I didn't want to post this, but I hope that the family sees this and takes action and remedies the problems at this location.

I used to truly love this place and for nearly 4 decades it was a great local place for Arizona Sonoran Style Mexican food. It was one of the few places I compared other mexican places too and has always been one of my absolute favorite places to eat as a native who grew up here.

Its had its ups and downs over the decades with staff and quality especially in the past year or two and every single recent visit the quality has been a pale shadow of what it was culminating today in what was likely my last visit to that location for some time in hopes that it gets itself back on track. Every single Thursday whomever is working that kitchen is butchering your recipes and food. Only one time in recent months has the food come out the way it should and always used to be.

I will give Mesa a shot in the future because I truly love the food when its cooked right. I can't bring myself to enter the Tempe location again. It leaves me grumpy, disappointed, and sad compared to what it was and can be to the point that I question if I even want to risk eating there again.

Nearly every single time in the past few months the food has been undercooked so much so that the last time I went there I simply walked out. I am very sorry about that too, but It was horrible. Everything was cooked poorly and a pale imitation of what it can be. Recently the salsa has been mushy, the hot sauce has gotten soupy, cheese crisps and quesadillas have lost their crispness and come soft and floppy. Everything just broken in delivery in some way or another. Even the enchilada's and burrito's and such all undercooked. They've even been messing up the rice and its undercooked and wet when it comes to the table. The sadness it has become is like losing a family member and they simply cannot deliver on the comfort food like they used to at this location. I hope that this has not happened to the Mesa location as well.

I hope the family can rectify this and better train their staff on how to do things right and keep it consistent because I would really love to enjoy their food again and not have to drive all the way to Mesa.

All the best, and I hope you can get back to being one...

Stop by on 6/7 Around 2pm to have some good food. My daughteR and co workers of mine had brag about this specific Place, After visiting With my daughter my friend and I stop here We were greated by a young lady Who ask to wait Until she check to see if there’s was an open Table for us to sit, she then comes back and told us We got to wait 15 mins until there’s a free table for us Wish it was ok. Then she finally comes and ask us to follow her we did and as we where walking we saw a Lot of table empty, I wonder why wouldn’t she sits us in one of those tables but didn’t ask her why. We finally got to the table... let me tell you something It’s was in the very back of the restaurant where if you need it to get a hold of the waiter I would literally had to get up and go look for them just because of how far we where from everyone else basically we where sat down where the staff take their breaks ( been sarcastic) but literally it felt that way. I complain one be puse it was too hot and second because it felt like we where sitting in the lunch room were staff takes their lunch break. I asked to be seated somewhere were it was much cooler and waitress said I would need to ask the manager she then left and came back And told us that she could sit us in a smaller area I ask why can we sit over there there’s a lot of table empty she said that the waiters that were assigned to that area where about to end their shift and that there was no one to assist us if we where to sit there So I just said fine sit us somewhere else’s were it isn’t hot she did . After we finish our meal we are leaving the restaurant and what a surprise we see ppl sitting in the área where supposedly the waiters who where assigned to that area there shift was going to end and that’s why they couldn’t sit us in that area 🤦🏻‍♀️

Bs The personal that was on shift We’re predijust again us my friend and I Will never go back to this place in Tempe And I will let the the other staff of the other restaurant In Phoenix know about this staff did to us The other restaurant in phoenix has way better customer service than this one in Tempe And for sure will be telling my co workers (Hospice Nurses specifically )and my daughter To not eat at this specific place you ppl should be ashamed of your...

I know this is never been an upscale cantina but wow how bad can it be? I sat at the bar thank you for not allowing smoke which I fully expected like the old days.

The bartender gave me the worst service I might have ever got. It felt like she was trying to be horrible. Sorry I ordered water but you serve Pepsi products so I didn’t hve a choice. Last time I tried tea and it tasted like toilet water clearly wasn’t fresh.

The salsa comes in a plastic Togo container? The real issue was the food. Who ever made my food also put no effort into caring. The taco was over fried and the meat dried out kind of like jerky. I ordered chicken but got beef. But my server never came back so I couldn’t even ask for my proper order. The girl who brought my food as nice.

No refills so I asked the bus boy and he said sure but never returned

My tamale was so hot that all the sauce evaporated.

Everything was terrible. But thankfully the salsa was fresh and I didn’t get food poisoning.

I don’t know how this place stays open?

One last note the bartender was even more rude to the table next to me. She was not rude to me just ignored me completely. I actually felt bad for the girls...

EDIT: It has been less than 15 minutes since my girlfriend and I left and we are both sick with food poisoning. I know the reviews make it seem good. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. (unless you like intense nausea and stomach cramps) The interior was nice enough but there were some areas in the booths that clearly had not been cleaned in a long while and were extremely dusty. The fajitas were okay for something that clearly came from a microwave. The meat was extremely chewy and cooled off within minutes of it arriving. The other tell was the speed that our order came to the table. Even giving the benefit of the doubt given it wasn't busy (another tell that shouldve been worrying) there is absolutely no way the steak was grilled and prepared when we ordered. The plate arrived and it was not sizzling or steaming and had inconsistent temperature. I was eager to try this after seeing relatively decent reviews, but I forgot to keep in mind that the Taco Bell on rural has a 4 star rating too... I gave two stars because our server was very nice and attentive and because the manager removed the fajitas from the bill.

I grew up eating at Rosita's in Mesa, and I am so glad that it still has fine Mexican food. This was my first time at this location in Tempe, but it will not be my last. We were warmly greeted by the staff and given tons of time to look over the menu. While we checked out the menu, we munched on their amazing chunky salsa and spicy salsa that was a little less chunky but had tons of flavor. I ordered the pick two items and got the spinach enchilada and beef taco with refried beans, and my mom did the build your burrito bowl with fajita chicken. Everything was amazing! Seasoned and cooked so well. Both dishes were simple and delicious. Neither one did not need anything added! Our waitress frequently checked on us with a smile and got us everything we needed. We truly felt welcomed! Again, I'm so glad that we made the choice to come back to Rosita's after so many years of being away! The quality of their food has not changed and their prices are still really good--just $30 for both our meals and we took food home! I will be back when I am in the area.

Rosita's has some actually spicy salsa that gets served after you sit down. I tried the enchilada platter. It's a Mexican take on an enchilada casserole. It was alright, but I would not take that over regual enchiladas. I felt like not enough sauce in the platter. Rice and beans are good. The Chile cheese crisp was good and my companion compared it to the quality at Susie's ( a well-known place down the road that frankly I enjoy a bit more.) The food is pretty americanized. Lots of Yellow cheese on everything. If you are looking for white people taco night you will not be disappointed. The server was very friendly and quite accommodating. The water after we sat down took long enough for me to wonder to my friends if she had forgotten us. But it didn't seem like lackadaisical or anything. Just busy. The ice tea was fresh brew and good. I couldn't see Wi-Fi so I'm not sure about if they have it. I'd give the food about 3.5 stars. But I haven't tried everything. Nothing wrong. Nothing gonna wow you.
