I'm old school when it comes to Buffalo Exchange, having been a customer of theirs since the late 80's/early 90's in San Francisco. I've also shopped their Belmont Shore location in Long Beach. It can be a hit or miss depending on what I'm looking for at the moment. I'm shopping for basics for a capsule wardrobe and didn't find anything that stood out. Granted, this location caters more to the hipster ASU crowd though it's kind of surprising to find Walmart labels being priced twice what I'd pay at the actual store. I've actually done better finding amazing shoes at this location, such as a brand new pair of black patent platform oxfords and today's haul, a cute pair of Steve Madden blush pink athleisure shoes (brand new, sticker from Nordstrom still on the bottom of the shoes, sweet!) that my fiance insisted I buy, lol. Never really impressed with their denim selection, especially for us tall women. Looking for a pair of flare bottom jeans, stick with Target on that score trust me. So why the four stars? Customer service has always been really good at every location. The sales staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their stock. While I've never tried to sell my clothes with them, buying has always been a good experience. I was complimented on my Lagerfeld eyeglass frames and the cashier took the time to show me a vintage Billy Idol t-shirt. The staff also have a pretty eclectic styles. If anything it's a fun place to browse and you never know if you'll find that statement piece that says "buy me", and I definitely like their charity program that donates to marginalized communities. I'm...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed in the customer service. I had sold a number of items to Buffalo Exchange in Tempe two or three months ago, and had $30-40 in credit. (very difficult to do considering how little they give you for your items/what they accept compared to some other great thrift stores!) However, when I got to the cashier to buy a top and cash in on that credit, the guy with green tipped hair gave me a blank stare and after punching in my phone number and name a few times, claimed I had had no account with them at ALL. He also said I should have had my credit placed on a card, which I can personally attest to as not completely necessary because I have used credit at that store before with just my name/number without difficulties. I don't know if I just had an exceptionally new and/or incompetent employee working with me, but he just kind of stared at me until I left the top on the counter and told him calmly that I was disappointed, felt like I had been stolen from and quietly left the building. As his store had seen fit to accept my items and sell them, and he did not seem inclined to do anything about it... I see this to be true. If any of you do decide to sell with this thrift store in the future, I: 1) highly recommend taking your items to few other places first to see if you can get more money for them, and 2) would recommend getting some sort of proof of your account on paper and a receipt/card with your credit (and maybe the signature of the employee that helped you). I know that I will be a lot more careful...
Read morei think the main manager of this place is a kid and the staff is very nice so i don't want to be too harsh, but a lot of the floor selection is in appauling condition considering the standards they state while buying. they have a clearance room in the back that's mostly empty - i would challenge the team here to comb the fast fashion trash out of the main area and put it all in there. this would allow people to get a good deal and reuse these fash fashion pieces and it would make room on the floor for good quality pieces.
i brought in a small bag of great quality items that are in style and seasonally appropriate. i even brought in a designer bag that's in really good condition. they ended up taking a couple of the 'cheaper' items i had but nitpicking issues with the other items. no worries, i don't feel entitled to sell anything here. i actually ended up taking the same bag to the buffalo exchange in phoenix and they bougth the whole bag (excluding 2 piece).
my main confusion comes when i start shopping the floor. tons of poor quality, ripped (not in a stylish way) and stained items. saw a lot of fast fashion like shein, which is fine, even plastic garbage deserves a second life, but the prices on these items were wildly high (probably more than if you'd buy directly from shein). i found a handful of items to try on and in the process i found holes in 2 items and stains on almost...
