Wow! This place is worthy of five stars. I sample BBQ every chance I get, and this is worthy of five stars. If you are local to the area, this is on par with Miller's in Belton; family owned, great eats, good service. Every bit of what I ordered was tender. We ordered a smoked turkey from here and it was fantastic. Everyone wants to know if a BBQ joint is the "best"; well that is a two part answer... it is some of the best I have had in Texas, and that includes Lockhart's near Dallas and the Salt Lick near Buda. Other places may have more character but best is based upon tenderness, flavor, quality of the smoke, and service. I have other places in mind that are my favorites, but that is because those places let the brisket drip into the beans, and the flavors are more pronounced. I do not think you would be disappointed with Fat Boys BBQ. I found great value in all the products I purchased Wednesday afternoon before Thanksgiving. The staff was very friendly, and I certainly appreciated it on a hectic day. So, where does it rank... in the local area I think you could put Fat Boys or Miller's at the top of your list, with Clem Mike Mikeska's a distant third, and Shoepf's well after that. For tenderness of the meats, Fat Boys is better; for taste, I might pick Miller's. Both have great people. I Think I prefer the smoke at Fat Boys over Miller's. It is close, and that is why you have to try them both. With all that said, Fat Boys had the best smoked turkey, period. I would put Fat Boys at the top of my local list. Five of five stars for a rock solid experience. Oh, and the banana pudding is hands down the best in the local area. That includes the banana pudding at Backyard BBQ, which regularly sells out of banana pudding on the weekends. So there you have it, Fat Boys for quality of the smoke, tenderness, and damn fine...

Now, let's talk about their Chip Brisket Sandwich - it was an absolute game-changer! The tender, juicy brisket paired perfectly with the crunch of the chips, creating a symphony of flavors that danced on my taste buds. Each bite was a delightful experience, and I found myself savoring every moment.
What truly sets Fat Boys BBQ apart is not just the outstanding food, but also the passion and dedication of the family behind it. You can taste the love and pride they put into every dish they serve. It's no wonder they've earned awards for their Texas-style Championship BBQ.
Whether you're a local or just passing through like me, do yourself a favor and make a stop at Fat Boys BBQ. You...
Read moreDanny and Amy, and their sons are good, honest and hard working , hometown people who I have known for more than a decade. The food is great, prepared for you by champions of BBQ cook offs. They have been there for years and they are the best of the BBQ places in Temple TX. My favorite for BBQ. Try their, brisket, ribs and chicken, then top it off with the pie, or banana pudding! You can't make a bad decision, so just savor your choice of meats and enjoy your meal. This family is a great, generous and sharing family, and Danny and Amy are good friends. My late wife was in the hospital for a whole month when she broke her back, and Danny had seen that I was running myself into the ground to work and then try to be there with my wife. This man told me to come in and get some food, for the rest of her hospital stay, and didn't, and wouldn't take any money for my meals. God bless...
