Preface: BBQ in Texas is held to a higher standard due to the abundance of BBQ restaurants. Open seating and walk up ordering that resembles Mission BBQ (a chain bbq restaurant) Very clean inside and the guy working the counter was friendly, polite and helpful. I ordered the 3 meat plate with 2 sides. Brisket, ribs and regular sausage. My sides were cheese bacon potatoes and coleslaw. Sides: the slaw was pretty much standard, fresh and nothing crazy. Would please most anyone. The cheese bacon potatoes were low effort… quartered redskins with shredded cheese and crumbled bacon plus a few chopped green onions. (I feel it would have been better if they broiled them or somehow melted the cheese.. Meats: The sausage was lackluster and on the bland side. Good portion tho! The ribs were delicious and had a great texture and flavor. Also a good portion. The brisket was delicious as well, the end piece I got was gorgeous!!! Packed with flavor and smoke! Maybe a slightly smaller portion than the other ones. I paid $28, which i think is fair. Overall: 4/5

Pretty disappointing, considering all the hype behind this name. The service was nice and friendly, and the place was clean. I got the 3 meat plate with brisket, ribs, and turkey. The turkey was pretty good. Tender and juicy. The brisket was very poor quality. The serving temp felt like less than room temperature and it had a tougher texture with a large dried out end on it. I didn’t finish it. The ribs were pretty bland with no flavor or seasoning on them, the texture was ok. Again, not even warm. The Mac n cheese was just cafeteria grade stuff with a somewhat grainy cheese sauce on them. The cheesy bacon potatoes were very bland with zero seasoning and obnoxiously under cooked. They looked nice, but that was it. For $23.50, it was a big disappointment with a good portion going in the trash.

I recently visited the new Smokey Mo's BBQ in Temple, TX, and was thoroughly impressed! From the moment we walked in, the reception was outstanding. The staff was not only welcoming but also very helpful, taking time to explain menu options and specials with genuine enthusiasm. One unique touch was having someone on the floor helping with trays and bringing orders directly to the table, making the experience feel extra attentive and customer-focused. The atmosphere was inviting, perfect for enjoying a great BBQ meal. And speaking of the food—everything was delicious! Temple is lucky to have this new location, and we’ll definitely be back for more. Smokey Mo's is a fantastic addition to the area.

My wife and I were excited to try a new lunch spot when we came across smokey mos BBQ. Upon entering the inside is very well laid out and very nice. The menu was interesting and had many mouth watering meals. I opted for the slice brisket with potatoes bacon and cheese, and my wife got the pulled brisket sandwich. When the food arrived her sandwich was pretty plain, just a bun with an everywhere or slightly below average amount of pulled brisket. If you're used to bucee's brisket, you'll be disappointed in the portions here. He sandwich actually tasted good. I don't know what happened with my sliced brisket, but it was by far the worst I have ever had. They might as well have just heated up a slab of fat cause that's basically what I got. 4 it 5 slices of 80% fat and some brisket crusted ends. It wasn't like you could trim the fat off either, it was rampant through out the entire slice. Extremely disappointing and nauseating. For the nearly $28 we paid for lunch we were expecting much more. The place looks great inside, menu is appetizing, portions leave much to be desired. Maybe this was an off day or something, but when you let them know it's your first time dining there you would think they would try to make a...

I went there first time with my Family of four. We love brisket and sausage, so we ordered just that and what we got was small portions and very dry brisket. Wasn’t very happy for having spent about $90. I told myself I would give it another try considering it was newly opened.

We went back about a month and a half later to give it another shot. This time we got 3 2-meat plates and a pound of turkey.

The brisket was again dry and lacking flavor. It had no smoke ring and seemed as if it had been cooked in an oven. Pork ribs were decent. The turkey was good, but could’ve been juicier. This time I spent over $100 and I vowed to not go back. I was excited to have a BBQ place close to my house and I’ve had Smokey MO’s in other cities and am a fan of them….. I did notice that it seems this location doesn’t actually have a smoker and meat appeared to be in pans in an oven/ heater….. just not like other locations I’ve been to that pull brisket from a smoker and full wrapped briskets. I really wanted this place to be good. I literally was excited and anxiously waiting for 3 months once I knew they were...
