I've been around the World, never had better Donuts than here. It's been 51 years since I walked thru those doors at Shipley Donuts in Terrell, Texas. I was still a boy of (14). I'm 65 years old now. The owner was Wayne Dry. I walked in and asked if he needed a cleaning boy (after-school work program) Wayne said he already had one. I looked around then told him I could do it better and after one week if I didn't do it better then he had me for a week "for-free. I graduated high school working here. Never had a better boss than Wayne Dry. We had a great team working there…. Ida May, EL Wheeler & her husband Bill, Joe at the ice-cream counter and his wife Charlene. Joe gave me a nickname, and 51 years later people still call me "Jody. I still remember my favorite customers… Lorraine Ellis, Bill Whitt, and all the rest. I have been overseas and I've seen the World, crossed the Oceans, been to every state in The United States, stood in the Halls of Congress and visited the White House, lived in Alaska, lived in Hawaii for several years, "Oahu, Maui, Molokai & visited the other Islands. Even so, I had one of the best times of my life working at Shipley's Donuts, I just didn't know it at the time…. I wish I could go back in time and relive those...
Read moreThe best donuts I have ever had in my life and I have eaten A LOT of donuts! I simply ate one apple fritter and I was absolutely blown away! I would say these are on par with fresh Krispy Creme donuts I had when I was 8 yrs old in Salem, OR (I don't feel that Texas Krispy Creme is the same), except that it was nearly noon and they were still this delicious! The gluten strands are insane, making the donuts nice and fluffy and chewy, this is the kind of bread I DREAM of making at home but I'm not yet a good enough baker to achieve it. I will absolutely be coming back, especially to try the plain glazed to fully appreciate the texture of the donut! I would also like to try fresh one day, I bet they are ten times...

I’ve been coming to this location for years and I’ve never been disappointed. Consistent quality and customer service make Shipley’s THE place to get donuts in Terrell.
I would have given them 10 stars, but their location and space is way too small. Moore Ave. is always busy, and there’s always a line. The wait can last for more than 30 minutes if you’re going through the drive through. It takes about 6 to 10 minutes per car during rushes. But, the donuts are always good, fresh and the customer service is always great! I live 25 minutes away and drive here often at the crack of dawn to get...
