I stopped in tonight to an empty drive thru, a largely empty parking lot and a desolate dining room. The microphone in the drive thru must not have been working correctly, since it was necessary to go over my order 4 times to the young lady at the window.
Or, perhaps the young lady at the drive thru window just wasn't listening, although she had four opportunites.
She kept trying to change my order into a combo, which was not intelligible at all, because I ordered the family size sides with my fried chicken, and the combo she kept going on about only comes with regular size sides. She actually suggested that her way of ordering the combo would save me money, but that was clearly wrong according to the menu in front of me. Nevermind the reality that the suggested combo wouldn't give me what I wanted.
After giving her my payment, she made change. Next, she handed long boxes in a bag and just in time to usher me off -- without remembering to make ready or hand off the drink I ordered just a minute beforehand. I had to ask her for the drink she had forgotten. Really?
Worse than that, she failed to include any plastic disposable utensils inside my to-go bag. I suppose those 2 side items were to be eaten with my fingers. Maybe utensils are not her preference or a necessity. Whatever.
She still failed miserably to listen to my order--not once, but four times.
Hey, drive thru workers: Ask your customer for their orders only once you are ready to listen carefully. That would make me happier. So, if you can't listen closely, wait until you can.
Maybe, if the employee had offered so much as a disingenuous, simple apology for the difficulty her inattentiveness created (or, her inability to hear through the headset had created), I would've left less irritated than I was. Otherwise, she was polite enough to make some meaningless small talk and to gently "smooze" (a Target stores idea), albeit in a manner that was too aloof to genuinely mean any of it.
Prices here are higher than they probably should be, with 4 strips, 2 large sides, 2 chicken breasts and a large drink costing over $22
The chicken was served hot, and it was not overcooked or undercooked. It was fresh and it was tasty, or I would've rated this much lower due than the 3 stars I selected for an inattentive employee and her disappointing drive thru service.
The biscuit was not too dry or crumbly, either.
The sweetened tea was just right--thick with sugar much like a syrup (lol) and iced right to beat this humidity and heat.
FYI, only white gravy is...

It hasn’t really been a big deal until they’ve done it the past three times I’ve went there you know usually I don’t get a drink so I can get an extra side and I’ve missed the extra side the past three times I’ve been there so I didn’t have a sweet tea or my cheddar peppers They gave me two mozzarella sticks and they weren’t big mozzarella sticks The chicken was burnt And don’t expect normal chicken because all the other locations you know the load up the chicken and you know they’re big chickens and they’ll give you more than you ordered this This chicken express you’re lucky to get the amount of chicken tenders that you actually ordered let alone good size ones like My pinky finger is bigger than some of these chicken tenders I’ve got before and the emo kid that has blonde hair is pretty rude. Chicken express is one of my favorite restaurants, but not the one on Richmond. It’s...

Background noise was terrible when ordering, and apparently the person taking the (phone) order left one meal off, and put our orders in as dinners when we asked for combos. Told him we wanted the one side instead of the drink on some. Ended up with dinners with extra sides and charged for the drinks that were supposed to be included. Had to make a second trip to get the omitted order and when talking to the guy on the phone, trying to straighten things out, he didn’t even offer a discount on the last meal, after our inconvenience. And the meals were not even hot (even though we are only a few...
