OHHH BOY..... Talk about a "tourist trap" in the middle of nowhere... I was so shocked by the prices, I had to write a review!
Now, if I didn't live in NYC all my life and tried every type of pizza from hundreds of pizza joints over the years, I might have been fooled into believing that it's normal for a 16'' Margarita Pizza to cost $24.99.. Margarita pies are literally the cheapest speciality pie a shop can make and usually doesn't cost more then $18.. $22 in Manhatten.
Better yet, a small 12'' Deep dish also costs $24.99.. How they priced them the same beats me.. I personally have never seen a 12'' Deep dish cost more then $20 ANYWHERE. That included midtown and the upper east and west side.
This spot also doesn't serve single slice which is 100% a gimmick to prevent you from spending any less.
The prices are SOOOO absurd, that you have no choice but to believe this place takes advantage of the locals who have no clue that pizza is usually cheap and delicious. Maybe cost of goods in this area are higher then Manhatten prices? I doubt it..
In terms of taste... The deep dish is 85% bread 15% oil.. The classic style is less bread, but way too cooked and super oily. It didn't taste too bad but the price killed anything worth enjoying and left your mouth with that unpleasant heavy oil after taste. Reminds me of all the pizza spots in South Jersey. Too much bread and oil.
I don't know.. The place was full but then again, it's in the middle of nowhere with no competition right off a major freeway.
I wouldn't recommend it unless you like over...
Read moreThey have Mr. Pibb and the absolute best cheesy spinach dip. Unfortunately I received such awful customer service on Valentine’s Day that I don’t foresee myself wanting to go back any time soon whatsoever. We were sat at 7:50pm, waited what felt like too long to put in even a drink order. My husband and boys ordered a pizza which arrived to the table around 8:40. The two gentlemen who arrived well after us and also ordered spaghetti we’re finished with their bowls as well before mine arrived. The server kept saying my spaghetti would come out soon … but it finally came out at 9:08 after my family had finished eating. I asked the waitress to put it in a to-go box, which then came out leaking because they put it in upside down. So I asked for either a plastic bag or a different box due to the leak … she brought the to-go box back and it was clear they simply flipped it over and handed it back to me. The spaghetti was on top of the bread, making the bread soggy, the sauce was everywhere. The whole meal looked like slop and simply unappetizing after waiting an hour and twenty minutes. I kindly asked the server to please take the spaghetti off my ticket as I had no desire to even take it home at this point. She took the box of spaghetti from me and edited our ticket. She never apologized or gave an explanation. I left hungry. And yes, I still tipped more than 20%, (tan was $38 and I left $8) but definitely less than I...
Read moreGreat ambience. Plenty of places to dine, and a diverse crowd of patrons. Well kept, and a fantastic smell from the kitchen permeating the spacious room.
The soda I ordered was balanced, and carried no mineral undertones. They are using clean, filtered water here, which is excellent to see
Ordered a 9" of the Deluxe, Chicago-style. Excellent flavor in the toppings. Meats were all savory, though quite salty. Sauce was also over-salted. Great way to sell more beers, but hurt the profile of the pizza. The Crust... Hard as rock. Could not cut through it with the provided butter knife. Had to jackhammer the fork along the seam created by the futile efforts of the knife to break through.
Wait staff were incredibly prompt- drink stayed filled -and they had great temperament with the customers, regularly checking in. Excellent job!
My server inquired about my pizza. After describing the hard crust, she did not offer to have it re-made, nor offered any apology or explanation. Left my notes on the check before leaving. Definitely worth a second visit. But will be asking for them to monitor that crust next time. And hope they check the salinity. Otherwise, worth a visit. If ordering Chicago style, expect a longer wait time on your meal- as good...
