So the word 'atmosphere' is certainly primary here. This is the kind of place you hear so much about, that everyone in the universe hypes up as THE premier place for beverages to such a degree that I was unaware that there was also a restaurant. That's certainly not something I've ever heard mentioned.
You hear about these places and the hype is built up. "Have you tried Bubble Tea? It's so-o-o good!" Always with that word drawn out about two or three syllables longer than it should be, as if it wasn't just good or so good; it is the prestigious and coveted so-o-o good. I think dropping the adverb here would be advantageous to word-of-mouth. Perhaps it would also be advisable to demote the adjective a bit.
So what is Bubble Tea? Aside from being a Chinese restaurant (which I knew nothing about, good egg rolls though), it is a place that does specialized drinks. Teas, smoothies, those sorts of things. But these drinks are unique. They have bubbles. A bit like the smoothie equivalent of orange juice pulp, if you think about it. It's a texture thing.
So my first drink here: chai tea with mango bubbles. Separately, the two were good. Together, good. And despite all the hype and pomp and grandeur I hear about constantly, I cannot bring myself to elevate my opinion to the level of 'so-o-o good'. Perhaps I'm not, as Nick Cave once sang, "hip to it, in the groove".
My opinion, for what it's worth, is that Bubble Tea is a place with a name and a gimmick, and for some that is enough to take the world by storm. But, no amount of combining teas, juices and smoothies with odd little flavored bubbles and jellies will give this place the kind of depth or attraction to me that places it over the desire to just order a latte at Starbucks.
It's good, but to me, not great. Too much hype, not enough substance. Enjoy at your...
Read moreIm not from Texarkana but was passing through and I had a taste for some bubble tea. I read the reviews on this place and seen it had great ratings but when I got there I was very disappointed. So disappointed that I just walked out after ordering and tipping and I didnt even want a refund. I just left. First off this place looks like it maybe was once a great spot but now who ever owns it stopped caring about the place or something. I was met with two guys with hoodies on that looked like they just crawled out of bed and they barely said a word to me. I still ordered trying to give it the benefit of the doubt. After standing there waiting and looking around i started to get completely turned off. It didnt look clean inside to me at all. It was dark and depressing inside and the bobas were just out and open for things to fly in and be scooped into drinks. The ipad screen they had me pay on with my debit card was all greasy and crusty and didnt look like it was wiped down in weeks. No gloves were worn. All the appliances looked like they Havnt been wiped or cleaned in weeks. I just walked out. Its sad because I have no clue in the world how this place got such good ratings. I hate giving bad reviews but I have...
Read moreThe bubble tea options available here are immense. There are flavors for everyone with tons of combinations available with fun and superhero themed concoctions also available.
You can ask for any drink combination you'd like, and you will be permitted to try it out before you commit to it. They are very friendly about letting you switch up a drink and making sure you enjoy it. I encourage you to experiment. I've had a great time trying new combos every time I visited and often ask for reccomendations from the staff.
The honeydew with honey boba, the milk tea with honey boba, and the iron man drink have been my favorites so far,but I have yet to have a bad drink in any of my visits.
There is food available as well, which I have yet to try, but it seems to be a mixed bag of local cuisine and tends to look yummy...
