Ironwood Grill — Restaurant in Texarkana

I found this place while traveling and decided to give it a try with my boyfriend. It took 20 minutes for our waitress to stop flirting with the table next to us to even be bothered to address us and get a drink order, 15 minutes to get the drinks to us. 30 minutes to get our food order.. 45 minutes for it to come out to the table. We were in there for over 1hr 45min. Horrible service. Here is my experience:

I am highly allergic to seafood. Whenever I go to new places that serve fish of any kind, I am very mindful to ask if the fries are cooked in the same oil as the fish 9/10 it is. From experience, this can lead to a trip to the er with an anaphylaxis response. So, a salad was a safe bet, you would think... Oh, I was so so wrong! There were actual tiny little black bugs in my salad! I showed it to my boyfriend to make sure I was not tripping. Had to wait for the waitress to come over to even show her. She acted very cold and rude. She got the manager, who apologized and said they would throw all the salad out... for reference, both got burgers, something so simple and quick to make. They offered a different side. Ok cool. 45 minutes later, we finally get our food... on my burger was the same salad! I was fuming!! So was my boyfriend! That was a slap in the face if I ever had 1 from a nice restaurant. Disgusting and highly disappointed at the all around disrespect. We get the bill. They took $2.50 off the bill that shouldn't have been charged in the 1st place as it was a legitimate replacement side for something I could not have from the start due to cross contamination of an allergy. Even though they were highly rude, and service trash, we still left a decent tip because I will not sink to the level of hateful people. I will always leave 100% real reviews. I do get that places get busy, but to bring the level of unprofessionalism in this kind of industry really is uncalled for. The management was delivering food. If it were not for the fact we were from out of state and on a tight schedule, we would have left from the salad incident we were willing to give them a chance based on previous reviews. I just left this restaurant, and I'm glad to say Ironwood Grill is my new favorite restaurant in Texarkana. Their was a bit of confusion when I got here because I had to give my phone number and everything because their was a 20 minute wait. I waited for 40 minutes before going back in to ask what the deal was, and was told they had trying texting me 3 times. I'm not quite sure what the error was, but everyone's human, accidents happen, no big deal. I was seated and my waitress, Alex, was over at my table within 2 minutes greeting me VERY friendly. I love that their menu has "random" things on it like fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. It's the little things like that, that makes this place stand out. I mean WHAT restaurant has not only fried green tomatoes, but DELICIOUS ones at that?? Between that and my burger, I was so full I could puke. Everyone in there was very friendly and I felt if I needed to I could ask anyone for anything. I definitely would suggest giving this place a try! We drove 2 hours to do some business in town on a Friday late afternoon. 5pm, we are hungry. We are the type of people that do not go to chain restaurants. But we found this place and said why not. The restaurant was clean and nice. The restroom, very clean. The food...... I got the Texas grilled shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The shrimp was very over cooked to the point it was hard. Shrimp at that size should be succulent and juicy. The spicy avocado salsa that came with it was just glorified guacamole with no spicy to it. The steamed broccoli was so steamed that I didn't need my teeth to eat it. It was mush with no flavor. The mashed potatoes had no garlic taste and over beatened. We will NOT talk about my husband's plate. The Mac and cheese was awful. And the mushrooms tasted like jarred that was just heated up. Thank you for letting me know that I'm still the best cook in my family cause this food at this restaurant was horrendous.
