Texarkana's highest rated Mexican restaurant really DID DISAPPOINT. It didn't from the crowd of people waiting to dive in - made us feel like we landed a great place to try while out of town. It didn't from how clean the facility was. It didn't from how attentive our server was and from her being patient with us (party of 5).
So, what did DISAPPOINT and why 4 stars if it was so disappointing you might ask? Well, in short, this is a typical Mexican/Tex Mex restaurant. I asked and was recommended the fajitas... They were sub par at best. Cheap restaurant supply stock and sauces. Nothing here felt homemade or possibly assembled in house.
I know the food is normally the main focus on these reviews but the staff and clearly the management wanted a good product for their customers. They were attentive, friendly and overall amazing. It is not far if all of them are doing a great job. Yes, I'll never go back... Yes, I can't imagine how bad the other places must be in that area... Yes... Tucked away in a serene neighborhood about 1.5 miles off 30 West, Amigo Juan offers a delightful dining experience with its great ambiance and well-thought-out decor. The interior layout is inviting, creating a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere that's perfect for both romantic dinners and family gatherings.
The menu, while not extraordinary, provides a variety of options to suit different tastes. The real standout, however, is the service. The attentive waiter and the owner, who both exhibit a commendable level of customer focus, enhance the overall dining experience. We were even treated to a complimentary dessert, a testament to their dedication to customer satisfaction.
The restaurant's romantic setting and accommodating nature make it a versatile choice for various occasions. With a diverse and friendly customer mix, Amigo Juan is a place I'd recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a pleasant meal in a welcoming environment.
I will be back again to try other items...

The food came out 3-5 minutes after ordering which is sometimes a red flag. It didn't taste bad. But it was bland. So very bland. The enchilada was like digging into a soggy, wet diaper and the sauce was pretty gross... the dessert was good though!
Again, sorry.....I'm not picky at all but this was....an experience. Hopefully it was...
