We just came back from a two-year overseas deployment in Central Asia, where friends asked before we left: what’s the first thing you’re going to eat when you’re back in the USA? An Italian sub - “hoagie,” that is, since we were going back to PA. When we landed at Avoca Airport, we rented a car and went straight to Arthur Ave in Honesdale…but arrived just at closing time, and didn’t get our sandwiches! We wound up having Chinese takeout for our first meal back. Doh! Fine, we went back the next morning, and THEN we got our proper Arthur Ave meal: an Italian hoagie and a caprese salad. Big portions, perfectly textured sandwich bread, excellent seasoning, friendly service. I got a small 6” hoagie, which came cut in two, and ate only one 3” portion, taking the other home for later (it was delicious later too!). The lunch rush got pretty busy as we sat there, so consider calling in your order. Highly recommended!

We live the great sandwiches made at Arthur Ave Italian Deli, eat in or take out. They gave a great assortment of your favorite Italian cookies! Fresh crisp cannoli shells, filled to order, the traditional style or chocolate dipped shells! If you love rainbow 🌈 cookies, the have deliciously moist tri-color cookies for your inner Cookie Monster! We just ordered sandwiches and salads for a party of 30 and the good folks at Arthur Ave make the food planning so easy and everyone loved the sandwiches! Thank you to everyone at Arthur Ave Italian Deli ❤️👍🏾😎!!!

So my wife and I are from the Bronx, and were instantly skeptical of a bold claim like "Arthur Ave deli." We are thrilled that they live up to the name. Food is outstanding, sandwiches are thick, and the prices are very fair especially given the quality of the meat. Oh and the cannolis are on point. Lastly, cannot say enough about how sweet and kind the owner & his family are. It was our first time there and we already felt like regulars. If you haven't been, you won't regret it. If you have been, well you know.

I have eaten so many Italian sandwiches in my life, but this was BY FAR the best sandwich I've ever eaten. Not only that, but the two men behind the counter were some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet in customer service. We were honestly unsure of what or how to order our sandwiches and the man who took our order was so kind and guided us to absolutely amazing food! You can tell when you walk in that they know how to make amazing food. Their sandwiches are amazing, they have multiple types of delicious sounding pasta and soups in the fridge ready to buy, and their cannolis and cookies look divine. We live an hour and a half away, but visited friends in the area who recommended them. I would easily drive an hour and half to taste their food again. If you are nearby you need to eat here. I wish we lived closer

Alright, check this out:

From the moment you step through the door, you're not just entering a restaurant; you're walking into a heartwarming embrace of authentic Italian flavors and genuine family love. The owner and his family are the heart and soul of this place—always ready with a joke, attentive to your every need, and honest in their dedication to serving up the best.

The food here is simply out of this world. Each dish is a testament to traditional Italian cooking, bursting with flavors that transport you straight to Italy. Last night, we had the pleasure of indulging in their creamy chicken Alfredo and a perfectly crafted hot pastrami sandwich. The portions were spot-on, satisfying without being overwhelming, and every bite was like a comforting reminder of grandma's home cooking.

This isn't just a meal; it's an experience. It's a place where you can taste the passion and care in every dish, where laughter fills the air, and where you leave feeling like part of the family. If you're looking for a taste of Italy and a whole lot of love, look no further—this hometown gem is an...
