Ok… I don’t know what seafood eating people left the good reviews but I promise I won’t steer you wrong. Let’s start with what was good, the boudin balls were so delicious! They were fresh and super crispy on the outside, the rice was cooked to perfection. Would definitely go back to order those alone. Now, that crawfish is another subject. They were small, lacked flavor and def taste frozen. In my opinion it taste like salted mop water. I made it clear I would be dining in and all my food was served in to-go containers. I thought this strange but being the only customer in the store at the time I figured this was their way of doing things. 20 minutes later a couple comes in and they were served in silver bowls and had an actual waiter. Not sure if there was miscommunication with my experience. The sauce that they charged me an extra $0.50 didn’t help with the flavor of the crawfish and I ended up just dipping the boudin balls in it and eating it with the corn and potatoes. I did like the boiled eggs! While I was sitting there I saw 3 separate customers with to-go orders come in with complaints. I would compare this crawfish to that at which you would get at a Chinese buffet if I’m just...
Read moreI went here with my fiancee at her request. When we entered, the place was empty, but there was clearly a lot of to go orders. We ordered, and our food took quite a while to make, so we had to take it to go rather than eating together. My lady ordered the ezpeel shrimp which came in a bag with corn and potatoes, which i took the time to sample and found to be quite delicious, although if you are like us, wed probably go spicier. I ordered the etoufee and shrimp with cajun fried rice. I gotta tell you, the fried rice, garlic bread, and fried butterfly shrimp were all good, but their roux for their etoufee is what im writing about. It was the ideal color, i like a darker roux, had the classic smooth buttery and kinda nutty flavor, excellently spiced, with a hint of lingering hotness as the other flavors wear off, not as spicy as id go at home, but not many people want all that heat. Ive eaten at some top notch cajun spots in NoLa as well as in Galveston, gumbo and etoufee are my go tos, if i dont have etoufee as my main, i get gumbo for my soup. And that was AN EXCELLENT ROUX. This is my first visit, i hope i can get good...
