what a relief to find the Cici's on Fry Road.
After a recent HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience at the Cicis on Highway 6 and West Little York, the kind of bad experience that mandates bad reviews be written and posted to as many sites as possible, I was told my the friendly group on Nextdoor that they are in agreement. The Highway 6 Cicis is so bad that corporate should just shut it down and take the loss. It was also suggested by many that the best Cicis experience they have found is the Cicis on Fry Road at Morton. Keep in mind that this BAD HIGHWAY 6 EXPERIENCE was not a one-off. This was the final straw of a lot of bad experiences at the Highway 6 Cicis. For me, it was one too many times being treated poorly.
Having gone for a couple of weeks without my Cicis fix, on Friday Night I grabbed the book I was reading and headed for Fry.
What a difference. It is obvious that this stores management takes pride in their store and that they take the Cicis experience seriously. As I was walking towards the door, the store manager who was outside on some Manger task and was heading back inside (I presume it was the store manager...Something about the green shirt spoke I AM THE STORE MANAGER!!! WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE YOUR STAY PLEASANT AND REMARKABLE) We chatted and exchanged greetings at the front door while he held it open. What a great start. As is my wont, when I was asked what I wanted I said I wanted a cheeseburger deluxe with onion rings. The woman at the counter never blinked. She simply responded, "I don't think so." I then admitted that I just wanted to enjoy the buffet and a drink. Then she threw me for a loop. She saw that I had a book with me and asked what I was reading. I was so taken aback at this kind of interaction that I was actually confused on how I should answer. I finally spit it out and explained the plot of the book and why I was reading it. She then asked if there were other authors. I told her Stepen King. Her face lit up and she exclaimed I LOVE STEPHEN KING. WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE BOOK? She was taken aback at my answer because it's not the usual response to the question. While I selected my first round of triangles, we chatted briefly about his work. It was a great customer experience. Actually conversing with someone in the service industry whose goal is to make you feel special.
I was probably out of line and acted inappropriately, but I dug through the photos on my phone until I found a series of photos of a signed limited edition of The Green Mile that I own. It was announced that whoever ordered this special edition of the book would have their names included in an appendix titled, "Those who walked the Green Mile". It was the names of everyone who bought a copy of this signed limited edition of the book. My name is included. Because she was a Stephen King fan I had to share what kind of fan I was, and what I was willing to acquire. I can only hope that my further interactions after the normal CAN I TAKE YOUR ORDER THANK YOU were not inappropriate by any means. I'm at an age where I know better than to talk to a woman significantly younger because it could be off-putting. If I was out of line, I apologize here.
Now for the food. It was awesome. The Zas on the main serving table were all fresh out of the oven and hot. There was no, "well, maybe we can keep this for another 10 minutes..." The food was hot and oh so tasty.
Unexpectedly, the manager, while doing the ABCs in the main dining area (Always Be Cleaning) took. time to stop at tables and ask the diners how things were and if they needed anything else or anything special. This is a store that gets it right and I will be back.
All in all, my first experience with Fry Rd Cicis was a great experience. I normally visit Cicis on Fridays or Saturdays as a way to enjoy comfort food and to relax at the end of the week. It's my "comfort zone" where I forget about anything that may be pressing at home or at work.
I will be back.
Thanks for a great experience. You made this new customer...
Read moreThis particular location is the best Cici's I've ever been too. I don't live near this location but I've been here twice within 4 days just because of how great the service and food was. I drove from Pearland just to bring my family out here. The first time I went we were greeted with "hello and welcome to Cici's" with a big smile from Angelo. He rang us up and asked if we want a special pizza, which we wanted a cheese pizza and pepperoni with olives one. He called it out to the back and it came out fresh and hot. The ladies cleaning the tables came around and asked very kindly each time if they could throw anything away, the personnel working at the buffet and making pizza were all smiles, and everyone there seemed happy. Normally you go places and people are dragging and act like you are bothering them, but not here, everyone was super nice! I spoke to Angelo at the end and just wanted to thank him and his crew for an amazing experience. My family and I came back 4 days later and the same thing all over again. I thought maybe the first time was just a coincidence, but having the same thing twice was definitely a delight. My kids love pizza so this was a great place to stop during a some what busy Saturday. I spoke with the owner, Shawn Brackin, this time and also wanted to say what an efficient and well run establishment this particular location was. At the time I didn't know he was the owner. He was working the counter, helping wherever there was help needed, and organizing around. I watched them just to see if the first time was a fluke or is this place like this all the time. The same people working, but all together as a team. All the food was fresh and hot and they never hesitated to make or get something if someone asked. Very impressive for a Cici's. My family will continue to drive out of our way just to go to this location if we decide we want pizza again. Great job guys, from the owner to everyone working there, my family and I are very appreciative of the hospitality we received and great food we ate. I say all this because honestly I was never a huge fan of Cici's pizza, and never really thought twice about the service because it was always the same, but, this food here at this location is just made different and taste different. It helps that the people there really seem to enjoy working at this establishment. Kuddos, and we'll see...
Read moreSo I had a really detailed review that disappeared, so I will just cut straight to the point. Crew members work really hard to keep the place clean and keep the bar stocked with pizza, clean plates, silverware, etc. I was highly impressed with the cashier Alanis who was checking the salad bar area and keeping it clean when she didn't have customers. Additionally, the entire crew that night I came all did a fantastic job keeping the place impeccable for other guests despite some little kids that parents didn't think needed to be attended to at the bar. Picture little balls of energy just taking as many slices of pizza they saw and were in Halloween costumes so were probably already hyped up on sugar. Plenty of messed tables, messes to clean, and replenishing was constant when those kids were there, but this employees must be use to it. I appreciated the hard work and wanted wanted give a tip, but was told that corporate has a policy against tips. However Ben, the manager that night really appreciated my words of encouragement and was delighted that myself and my crew of nieces had a nice dining experience.
Please, Cicis find a way to make tips available to crew mmembers. Additionally, can you please have small packets of egg free dressing available? My niece has an egg allergy and even though she was able to eat pizza and the cinnamon rolls, all of the dressings that were available that night had egg, so no salad for her. Also, the 54 cents a person for requesting a paper cup really floored me. I do not drink much soda and me carrying some to go would not have been my m.o. but after paying an extra 54 cents for the cup, I made it a point to make sure my nieces and I filled up our cups. Just a few suggestions, but overall solid place to grab some pizza pie and enjoy some TV time (so glad they were playing the Astros World Series game...
