Go somewhere else. Cocktails are a joke, food rivals bowling alley. Service is prompt but inexperienced.
Seat yourself, but don't sit here... Not good, but not bad. We came to see the live band but they were packing up a little soon. We had a few kids and dog with us so we tried to sit in the back area with tables low to the ground by the bar. Waitresses closes it down and told us we couldn't sit there. Their excuse was there were too few of them. Instead they sat us further away from the bar at the entrance of the restaurant. Was not ideal.
Cocktails were a bad idea, order beer... We ordered the old fashioned and margarita to get started. Drinks came out in Dixie cups, were weak, undefiled with a couple of ice cubes. (It's still 90+ degrees outside). Don't waste your time with these cocktails, they're just overpriced soda with flair.
Dog/kid friendly patio, not accommodating I'm new to the dog scene, but everywhere I've gone servers offer me a cup of ice water for our dog bowl. I had to split my water with my dog and kids and waited for her to come back again. I guess "waters for the table" doesn't imply kids and dogs here - make sure to be specific if you're in this situation.
Almost like Grandma's tasteless cooking... This food left much to be desired. I tired to the Philly Cheesesteak. Overcooked ingredients made for gritty bites after I fought through the stale hoagie roll. If there was cheese before the cook plated this thing - it got up and left before it arrived at the table. Someone should have paid me to eat this thing. The sweet potatoes fries were also disappointing unless you like them greasy and limp like a congealed soup.
Overall Service was attentive and prompt but seemed new and inexperienced. Answering questions about drinks and handling obstacles was a challenge for them. Food sucked, though I typically only come for crawfish. Band should stick around later and if the sign says "seat yourself" don't close down the best tables and force us to sit at a super high table or the trash table in front of the restaurant entrance.
Guess this is it for us Jackie's, it was nice while it lasted. Time to...
Read moreI’m not writing this review for run-of-the-mill restaurant reasons; I’m writing to share an extremely alarming experience I had while dining at Jackies. I’ve worked in the service industry for over ten years and have seen my fair share of out-of-pocket behavior from guests and staff alike. That having been said I was shocked and appalled by the actions of the management towards a guest/performer yesterday afternoon. There was a young woman/musician performing live music with her percussionist and after awhile, she announced to the crowd that she was taking a quick break. Right before she exited the stage, she invited the crowd to see her band at future shows they were performing in the area over the next few days. Again, I’ve worked my fair share of live music venues and have heard just about every band ever, promote themselves in identical or similar ways. Once the girl got off of the stage, she was AGGRESSIVELY confronted by the manager who proceeded to loudly berate her for mentioning another venue. It felt like he went on yelling at her forever! In an extremely loud, inappropriate, and uncomfortable volume! I’m convinced you can learn everything about a restaurant by the way they treat their staff and for this man to verbally abuse a young woman in the middle of the restaurant in front of guests, over something everyone does all of the time literally made me nauseous. I wanted to get the name of the manager who publicly humiliated this poor girl and report it to the owner only to find out, Guy Rodgers aka the guy who yelled at her, was in fact, the owner. I hated knowing the tab I just paid was going into the pocket of someone so unprofessional, immature, toxic, and undeserving, but what can be done right? All I can say is that if you see this review, please consider spending your money at a place that treats its staff and guests with respect. I, my family/friends will certainly...
