Restaurant Review – 7 Mares Seafood Restaurant (Griffin Parkway, Mission, TX)
Our experience at 7 Mares on Friday, March 21, was, unfortunately, one of the worst we’ve had at any restaurant. A group of six coworkers and I arrived around 12 p.m., expecting a quick and pleasant lunch like we’d enjoyed in the past. Sadly, this visit was anything but.
Our waitress, Delia, greeted us and brought menus promptly, but that’s where the service began to unravel. It took nearly 15 minutes before she returned with chips and salsa. She then took our drink orders and began taking food orders from the table. I was the first to order off the lunch special menu, but before I could finish, she abruptly walked away without saying anything. A minute later, she returned and mentioned she had to check if the lunch specials were still available.
The rest of the table proceeded to order their drinks and lunch specials, hoping for clarity, but we waited another 25 minutes with no update. After this long wait, she returned to replenish the chips and salsa—but still, no food or clarification on our orders. About 10 minutes after that, she finally came back to inform us that the lunch specials were not available after all. She didn’t clarify whether they had run out or if there was another issue, but by then, we had been sitting there for nearly 45 minutes without any food.
Frustrated and hungry, we told her we’d be leaving. She left briefly, then returned and said we would have to pay for our drinks (which were only sodas and water)… a moment later she said we would not have to, because the manager had waived the charges.
While we appreciated that small gesture, it didn’t make up for the wasted time and poor service. Having visited this restaurant over 30 times in the past year and a half, we expected much better. Sadly, this experience left us feeling disappointed and disrespected, and it’s enough to make us reconsider ever coming back.
Hopefully, management takes this feedback seriously to prevent other customers from having similarly frustrating...
Read moreMy buddy invited me for lunch at Mariscos El 7 Mares. He wanted me to try the Fried Shrimp. He ordered fish Tacos and a bowl of Shrimp soup. I ordered the Fried Shrimp $18.99 it came with fries, salald, and rice. ill get back to the fried shrimp, I have to tell you about the Ceviche. After we ordered our iced teas, we were brought a small plate that had a small ramekin of salsa on it. Next to the ramekin was limes and Ceviche !! There was chips as well. I could have ordered a whole bowl of the Ceviche , that's how good it was. Something so simple , yet so wonderful. The texture was amazing . Back to the Shrimp. Everything on my plate was really good, the Shrimp were a decent size and perfectly fried. Whoever is breading the shrimp , you make them all the same size, butterflied exactly alike, and fried golden perfect. The salad super fresh, and the rice was on point. I didn't get to price my friends plate but he really raved about the soup first, then the Tacos. I like the way they fill up the fish Tacos and the way they are presented on this Taco stand, it looks like it makes them easy to pick up and eat. I now have to go back and try the Caldo ( soup) de Mariscos (seafood) I also want to give a shout-out on the service, it was truly on point. Never had to ask...
Read moreThis Mexican restaurant in Mission Texas specializes in seafood. The menu is all in Spanish but the difficulty of communicating your preferences is well worth the challenge. Our waitress had a modest English vocabulary and directed us to the part of the menu that had filletes. One combination plate for $21.99 would easily feed 2 people so we ordered that. We were not disappointed. We substituted a vegetable side for the French fries but got the fries included anyway. The 2 fillets were large, grilled white fish that had a great texture and mild garlic flavor with my generous squirt of lime. We also had 6 medium size shrimp which were nice but not quite what you would expect if you were on SPI at Joe's Oyster Bar or Dirty Al's. Nobody goes away hungry from Mariscos. Chips, salsa with a whole range of sauces, salad and rice with a stack of tortias rounded out the meal. We ate everything except the tortias. We took them home for a taco meal that we will have today with our...
