Mikado Asian Cuisine & Sushi — Restaurant in Texas

Finally I found the sushi spot for me here in the Conroe Woodlands area. I just moved into the area from California and was in search of top notch nigiri and especially sashimi. I was looking for soft, tender, fatty, butter, melt in your mouth salmon and I found it here. I tried their seared tuna and beef tataki for starters. Both were on a bed of greens and ponzu which helped lighten the meaty flavor. I also ordered salmon nigiri (thick cut of salmon with amazing soft texture) on a small piece of rice. You know it's good when they don't serve a giant hunk of rice under it. The fish is the star of the show. And last but not least I also had smoked salmon sashimi. I will remember to get it as nigiri instead next time. It is salted because it is smoked so rice would have balanced that.

My waitress was amazing. Very friendly. Lots of thank yous and a genuine smile on her face. Kept my water filled and asked useful questions to help me decide what I wanted.

My favorite is Hamachi carpaccio. The flavors explode in your mouth followed by the gentle texture of hamachi, little kick of jalapeño pepper, semi sweet mango topping ends the pleasant tour.

The atmosphere is anything you want it to be. Family gatherings, romantic quiet booth with soothing music in the background or a business deal spot. All above accompanied by wonderful authentic cuisine.

Take your time and speak to the staff, you will learn something about this community and how much Magnolia has changed since the family from Chine made this place their home and started their journey followed by American Dream.

Food was good but our service was terrible. Oue waitress, Sarah, treated us like we were a giant inconvenience. From the moment we got there she rushed us so bad, the minute we sat down she asked if we were ready to order then came back 2 more times to ask while we're actively reading the menu, tried taking our plates while we were literally still putting food in our mouths, I asked to keep a menu because I wanted to order more and she asked to take it away twice until I just gave it to her etc. It was still 30 minutes before their closing time when we left so I just felt like the whole thing was so rude.
