Mikes seafood is hands down top seafood spot in Houston #seafood #fyp #fypシ #food

Mike’s Seafood in Houston is one of those rare gems that turns a meal into something you remember—not just for what you ate, but how you felt while you were there. From the moment I stepped in, the place felt alive: the steam rising from pots, laughter and chatter, folks digging into seafood with gusto. It’s casual, definitely, but in the best way — a warm, no-pretense space where people come together to enjoy really well done food. What stands out most is how much flavor Mike’s works into everything. The seasoning hits just right; you can taste the care, whether with the fried offerings or the boiled seafood that comes out rich, aromatic, and fresh. Portions are generous without wasting, so it’s easy to come with a group and dive in. The oysters, shrimp, crab, or crawfish — whatever you pick — feel timely, hot, and satisfying. The service plays its part too. Staff are attentive, eager to help with flavor levels or pairing suggestions, even when things get busy. They move with purpose but don’t make you feel rushed; there’s space to savor, talk, laugh. Yes, during peak hours there are waits, but most folks say it’s worth it. Ambiance is lively and slightly chaotic in that good-kind of way. Clean enough, buzzing nicely, with those sensory details — smells of garlic, butter, seafood, sizzling oil — that tell you you’re in the right place. It’s not fine dining, but it doesn’t need to be. Mike’s creates a full experience: bold taste, good value, atmosphere, friendliness. Five stars, for sure — if you want seafood done with flavor, a place you go to enjoy the dinner as much as the company, Mike’s Seafood delivers.

I've had a craving for fried catfish or just good fried fish lately and I didn't feel like driving to my two favorite places. Thus, I went to Google to see if I could locate a good fish place closer to me and landed on Mike's seafood. Looking at the reviews and photos of the food, I felt I'd found a new fav. Unfortunately, not! Was not impressed with Mike's seafood at all. The catfish was bland and it didn't have a catfish taste. I love catfish and catfish has a distinct flavor, this one didn't have the catfish flavor. The shrimp are like the frozen SeaPak shrimp you get out of the grocery store, they are not fresh shrimp. I haven't had frozen box shrimp since I was a kid. I also ordered a whole fried redfish, which was huge; however, the skin rubbery, not crisp and the fish had no flavor. A lot of the reviewers mentioned how the food has a cajun flavor. I grew up in Mississippi in a town which bordered Louisiana. My entire childhood consisted of southern and cajun food....this place is not cajun by any means and for those who state it reminds them of NOLA, I'm assuming its because they've never been to NOLA. Some of the best catfish I've had in Houston, outside of Pappadeaux, is Rays BBQ Shack off OST. They're well known for their BBQ but their catfish is equally as good and you can tell its real catfish. However, for whole fried fish and shrimp, my go to place is Pier 8 Seafood in Seabrook TX. It's a buy and fry shop...you select the seafood you want and they cook it on the spot. Very fresh, great flavor. In the evenings, the lines can be very long but the food is so worth it. As for Mike's, I'd say it's the place to go if you enjoy boxed seafood from the frozen food section of your local grocer. However, if you prefer fresh, well seasoned seafood, Mike's would be a 1 for me. However, I'm sure you noticed my rating was a 2 not a 1. That's for the shrimp fried rice. Their shrimp fried rice was very tasty...really enjoyed it. I probably wouldn't make a special trip to Mike's just for the shrimp fried rice, but for those of you that like Mike's seafood, the shrimp fried rice is a good accompaniment. Skip the steamed vegetables...they are as bland as the...

Ordered a seafood boil to go extra potato extra egg extra sausage, got home which is about 20-25 mins away seafood still good temp, so as I opened my seafood boil I notice it’s not any seafood juice but I do see a huge high amount of garlic when I say so much , it was a thick mush of seasoned garlic over everything , as I’m eating I notice a high amount of salt when I say u can’t consume my seafood headache on 20 . This is a mild seafood boil I purchased, it wasn’t to spicy , but when I say salt amount High I instantly called the restaurant asked to speak to a manager by the name of jay , address my complaints : the shell of the muscle was in there but there was no muscle on the shell but a heel of the garlic clustered covering the entire shell, explained the food is to high in salt concentration to consume , his name is Jay an said well I haven’t had nobody else to complain.. first off fire him , because as a active duty service member if I call about something that’s not appeasing especially if I don’t live in the area an can’t make it directly back to the store that would be the #1 thing I would not say , cause there’s no way nobody complained about the high amount of salt when I let the officers who I’m with try it an they all felt that it was unconsumable a high amount of salt then proceeds to tell me he doesn’t know what to tell me !!! AN TO ORDER ANEXT TIME A MILD WHICH I DID ORDER !!! Service members stay away , New Orleans stay away !!! THIS IS NOT IT THIS NOT IT !!! You will be disappointed like I was , the customer sitting outside eating who was talking to me for warned me about garlic me not thinking anything of it think he’s speaking of the garlic bulbs , no it’s minced garlic like a extreme amount of it !!! I’m disgusted. And extremely upset to this type of care an standard an to not fix make it right recorrect it heck I would of took another 40 min trip to have the issue corrected but once I received that type of customer service over the phone … it’s a strong...

Last weekend, on Good Friday, my family ordered seafood from Mikes TOGO. Unfortunately, the food quality was extremely poor. One of the meals — a grilled seafood platter — was mushy, had a bad taste, and seemed like it could have been spoiled (though we didn’t eat enough to be sure).

When we brought the meal back, the manager, Ray, accused my mother of eating half the food, even though it was clearly returned largely untouched because of the poor quality. Instead of apologizing, he attempted to offer a replacement meal, which we declined — after seeing the poor quality that day, we didn’t want anything else. We simply asked for a refund for the $19.99 grilled seafood platter.

Ray agreed that day to refund the amount to the card we paid with and told us it would be processed within two days. Over a week later, no refund was issued. When we called back today to ask about it, Ray immediately remembered who we were — and instead of honoring his word, he recanted and accused us again of “eating half the food” and said he would not issue the full refund after all.

At this point, it’s clear this is not just a case of poor customer service — it feels dishonest and shady. It’s giving the impression that Ray is running a scam, lying to customers and refusing to honor agreements. A manager operating like this reflects extremely poorly on the entire restaurant.

I would strongly caution anyone considering eating at mikes. Not only was the food bad, but the management is unprofessional, dishonest, and disrespectful to paying customers. In this case we will have to return to the restaurant to make sure this is...
