I'm going to state the good with the bad here. The ambiance of this restaurant is great. It is also in a great location in LaCenterra Cinco Ranch in Katy. I came here for my 3 year anniversary but things did not go as planned. Initially when I first arrived at the restaurant, Perry's did a great job. They wished my wife and I a Happy Anniversary, & they even put rose petals on the table. I thought that was a great touch. We requested to sit outside near the water and they accommodated that as well. The setting was romantic and the weather was great. I let the server know I'm not a big drinker & if I do drink I prefer bubbly & sweet and she suggested the Bubbly Black Rose, it was great I loved it, my wife ordered a red wine since she enjoys wine, it was Perry's Pinot and she enjoyed hers as well. For the food we ordered Cherry Pepper Calamari, it was about a 4 on a 1-10 scale, it reminded me of frozen fish sticks, the server also forgot to bring us the water, I had to go find her to get the water, she brought the alcohol to the table but no water, I realized it when I ate the spicy Calamari but didn't have any water to cool my mouth down, she apologized & I didn't make a big deal of it, my wife had grilled oysters & she thought they were good, I had a Lemon Bar for dessert and it was excellent, I give that a 10 out 10, my wife's creme brulee had a very bitter taste to it, she didn't finish it. Now for the main meal, my wife ordered the Filet & Lobster & I ordered the Prime New York Strip & for the side we decided to try Truffle Steak Fries. She asked for the Lobster to be grilled & it came out steamed. I ordered my steak medium well & my wife ordered hers medium. Although I didn't say anything, I noticed my steak was way more bloodier than hers. Hers looked medium well and mines looked medium which leaves me to believe they may have confused the 2. I ate it anyway. The Truffle Steak Fries were not that great. Neither one of us enjoyed those. Now I've been to some great restaurants in Houston that specialize in steak as well as I've been to some lower end basic steak restaurants. I expected Perry's to be at the top but that was not the case. I probably wouldn't have even written this review if it wasn't for this last straw that just made the anniversary date horrible. So both of Perry's restrooms were out of service, they were sending everyone to use the restroom across the street in some nasty public restroom that was worse than a Porta Potty. It was urine all over the floor, urine in the trash can and it smelled horrible. My wife and I had lots of people walking past us outside as they were showing everyone where the restroom was across the street. To top matters off even more there was one guy that didn't want to go across street, he wanted to go on the side of the building to urinate but thankfully one of the workers there stopped him from walking back there & told him "No Sir." It was a little back and forth going on but the worker stopped him from using the restroom on the side of the building. Thank goodness for that because neither I or my wife wants to see someone urinating while we are eating. Not sure if it was a manager or not that stopped him but it would've just made the anniversary day even worse to witness that. So that experience pretty much ruined our 3 year anniversary date. They ended up shutting the restaurant down early due to not having any restrooms for anyone to use. For the money spent at this restaurant I expected a better experience. I'll give it 2 stars since the location was great, they said happy anniversary upon arrival, the drinks were good, I enjoyed my lemon bar dessert, and they put rose petals on the table. Other than that it was a...
Read moreThis was our first experience at this Perry’s location and to be honest it was not up to Perry’s standard. We usually visit the Perry’s on Cypresswood. We placed our to-go order as we were out in Katy attending a funeral. The order was taken for two surf & turf pasta, hold the surf. (Allergic) And my daughter did not want the lobster on hers. A bone-in Rib-eye and mushrooms. The girl taking the order asked if we would like bread and butter and we said, yes. 15 minutes after our order was taken a gentleman, Jonathan came to discuss our order, basically if we hold the surf on the two pasta dishes we still will be charged for it. I shared I have an allergy, and my daughter is not a fan. He offered to add chicken - or surf on the side. We decided to get surf on the side and surprise my husband with the lobster to eat with his bone-in rib eye. We thought all was good and ordered would be moving right along. Another 10 minutes and a young lady comes out talking to the girl that took our order, discussing the rib-eye. They walk away to discuss without being in front of us. The second girl then walks back over to my daughter and me, to discuss again the surf & turf issue and the charge, I stop her and share that Jonathan already discussed this and I thought it was resolved. She then proceeds to say, she has yet to place our order in the kitchen, so it will not be ready by 5:30. Do we still want to continue with placing the order? We say, please place the order we will wait. At 6:10 pm, she comes walking over with our ticket, we pay and she returns with my credit card, receipts and food. I ask for a pen to sign, she tells me no. Have a good night and hands or bag of food. Shame on her and me, as she did not go through the items to confirm we had our complete order. I did not check either, but at this point we had been there over an hour. We drive from this location out to 290/99 - Cypress to finally get home and eat! To enjoy our Perry’s to go! We were very upset and so disappointed that in our bag was only one order of the surf & turf with the surf on the side. My husband’s bone in rib-eye had no bone in and we received no bread/butter. When I called back to Perry’s the gentleman did apologize but informed me that I was only charged for 1 surf and turf! As if that made it all okay! He did indicate that they would prepare another if we wanted to come back and pick it up 20miles one way, so 40 mile round trip -or they could make it for us today, I would need to call and ask for Pete as he would not be there. This Perry’s opens at 4:00 each day except Friday. I am not sure we will try this location again.
We will have to call for our order and pick up - but it was never shared if we would be charged or not. This was a miss by the staff at Perry’s over and over with the entire order. Incomplete order (1) as we watched the girl write two orders for the surf & turf. (2) ordered bone-in rib eye - no bone in rib-eye in our order, and (3) no bread and butter. For the price I expect better service and the ability to take an order and deliver on it! Very...
Read moreMy experience with Perry's at LaCenterra has been a mixed bag. I have been to this location three times. My first visit was "meh" - not great. Not bad. My second visit was fantastic - some of the best food and service I have experienced at a high-end steak house. My experience last night was absolutely terrible. Really bad.
I had a 7:00 reservation - but was not seated until 7:45. There were open tables, but I know that sometimes restaurants are short on staff and can't use all of their tables. The table we were given, however, had been open since the time we arrived. That should have been my first clue.
We were told that our server was the best in the restaurant, but that claim was far from true. It wasn't until after our appetizer was served that we received our utensils and it required us to ask to receive them. They weren’t particularly quick in bringing them either.
I won’t recount everything that went wrong, but here are three examples of the quality of service we received:
Bread was not served until moments before our entrée’s arrived. One of my guests asked for two sodas at one point because they were so slow in refilling drinks. Our side items were served without serving spoons and the staff took their time in bringing them to us. I don’t know if Perry’s has special serving spoons, but I know we were given everyday tablespoons.
When the manager was doing his rounds and asking guests if everything was okay, I expressed my displeasure with our service. The words, “your service sucks” slipped out when I answered his question (normally I would have been a little more polite in my phrasing).
The manager was extremely apologetic and asked if there was anything he could do to improve our dining experience. At that point, there really wasn’t anything he could have done that would have changed my opinion.
As always, the food was extremely good – no complaints there.
It is rare that I complain about service and I always make it clear that I am not trying to get anything comped. I simply was dissatisfied and wanted to provide honest feedback to the manager.
I later learned that a party of 20 people had come in shortly before we arrived. I understand that such a group requires a great deal of attention. Still, if Perry’s could not handle my reservation, they simply should have told me.
I have been to many-many higher end restaurants and I would have expected to have a much better experience than I did.
I am giving this Perry’s location a three star rating because of my previous experiences. If I was rating this visit, it would...
