I met my friend here and it was quaint. There's a "secret" entrance in the back. I walked in and it took my eyes a few minutes to adjust due to the darkness, coming in from the bright outside. The hallway has about 3 turns before you get into the bar. My friend and I sat at the end of the bar, near the kitchen. There were only 2 bartenders on duty, a man and a woman. Neither introduced themselves so I dont know their names. We visited between 6:30 - 8:30p on Friday, 6/21. Our bartender was the man and he was very arrogant, not friendly and barely spoke to us. The bar wasn't busy when we first got there. My friend had already ordered her drink because she got there first. The bartender passed by me 3 times before asking if I wanted a drink. I got the chocolate martini. I was turned to the right, facing my friend, having a conversation. He put the drink down behind me. When I made a hand gesture I knocked the glass over and the drink spilled, glass broke. The bartender seemed incredibly irritated. Didn't even ask if I was okay, there was glass everywhere. Instead he began slowly picking up the glass, tossing it behind the bar. I said, "why did you put my drink behind me, I didn't even know it was the there?" His response was "I just put it down". I said, "can you please put it in front of me so I know it's there or at least tell me it's there?" He said, "that's what I did." I said, "no, I was turned, facing my friend and you put it behind me." He said, "you're right" and continued cleaning. After sopping up the drink he continued to spray a blue liquid in a spray bottle on the bar right in front of me. I could feel the overstay of the liquid hit my arms, TWICE! Not sure what it was but glad I wasn't allergic. I had spilled drink directly in front of me that he kept missing. When he looked like he was done cleaning I said, "the drink made it in front of me", he said, "I know" and wiped it up. I finally got my new drink and our charcuterie board. For $35 it wasn't anything special. It had 4 different cheeses, 3 different meats, 3 apricots, 3 pickle chips, tbsp of stone ground mustard, tsp of honey, baguette chips and a fluted glass with some kind of mousse and 3 raspberries. I'm use to charcuterie boards having a few different kinds of crackers, spreading sauces and a few different kinds of nuts, including everything mentioned above. We ordered a 2nd drink. My chocolate martini was good but I wanted to try something different. I told the bartender I liked sweet drinks and what could he recommend. He immediately said the Strawberry Fields. I agreed. I wish I hadn't. It tasted like strawberry sparkling water for about $15. Then the female bartender kept making drinks on the bar right in front of me. This was fine except it was encroaching on my space. At one point there was 8 glasses in front of me, waiting on her to mix up the drinks and put them in. And this chick had a stadium voice...so loud!!!! She was talking to the patrons next to us, at a volume 10. My friend and I had to quit talking because we couldn't hear each other over her. We waited 20 min to close out our tab before we asked the young lady who was helping behind the bar. Our bartender never came back down to our end of the bar after we got our second drinks. A good 40 min. Two of us spent over $100 for atrocious service, okay food, 1 good drink, 1 so-so drink. The bartender made me feel like I was an unwanted guest the entire time. I guess we paid for the ambience. Needless to say, I...
Read moreI CANNOT say enough amazing things about this place! My husband and I were in town for a graduation party and we decided to try The Blind Finch to wind down the evening. He and I had never been to a speakeasy before and now I will be trying to find one every where I go! The ambiance inside of this place is wonderful. Intimate while still lively. The decor is perfect for the occasion and we loved that it was a smaller place so even though it was full, you still have a feeling of privacy.
Even though GPS did its job, we had a hard time finding the place. The entrance is located in the back of the building and has a sign that says "Closed" on it, although if you read the writing its clear that it's part of the setting the scene. When we walked in we were greeted by Wendy who did such an amazing job all night that we thought she was one of the managers. Zoe was the server who took care of us and she was great! It looked like she was working the room on her own, but she still managed to check on us enough that we never felt ignored, but not so much that it was intrusive. She even went the extra mile and got my husband some extra bread for the hummus right when the kitchen was closing. All the food was fantastic! We had the Spicy Devil Eggs and the Finch Dip. Both were the perfect sizes to go along with our drinks as we weren't expecting a full menu - just some bites to eat. Of course, the man attraction was the drinks. Danny was our bartender and he absolutely killed it!
First, my husband ordered the Underdressed cocktail and Danny came to our table personally to let us know he didn't have all the ingredients and offer recommendations. My husband decided to go with a Dapper Dan (loved it!) and I had the Queen of Hearts which was equally as tasty. We found out Danny makes a mean sazerac (IYKYK!!) and that was our 2nd, 4th and 5th drinks for the evening...lol. The 3rd drink was a Ramos Gin Fizzy which I never heard of before but MAN was it AWESOME!! My husband doesn't like gin, but enjoyed every sip of this drink. If we lived in town we would absolutely be regulars here, so if you're in the area do yourself a favor and make sure you stop by for a one of a...
Read moreAmbiance: 100% the best decorated bar in the Spring area You enter through a door at the back of the building and are transported to the prohibition era. Flapper, glam decor, cozy chairs, and moody lighting makes The Blind Finch a romantic date night spot. The cocktail presentation, large bar area, and music selection creates an upscale atmosphere for parties, ladies night, or closing a deal.
The cocktails are super unique and taste amazing. For the Spring area, I find the drinks to be quite pricey but worth it. Great location for a night cap. Limited food menu (mostly small bites). I did enjoy the deviled eggs - great for sharing but expensive. It really does feel like you've been transported somewhere much more magical than a random bar off FM-2920. It's also super dark inside so difficult to keep track of time (in the best way!)
This is definitely a spot I would go back to if celebrating an occasion/wanting to impress an out-of-town or cocktail connoisseur friend. Parking does get difficult on weekends given that Thistle Drafthouse is right next door. Clean and private bathrooms. Plenty of spots for social media photos.
FYI there is a dress code! My husband had to remove his hat (which IMO felt a little unnecessary given that it was 5pm on a Friday and jeans are allowed but I guess I understand wanting to keep a...
