My first experience with Romero's was through an UberEats order. The in person experience is much better as the food is fresh from the kitchen and hasn't cooled over the delivery drive. Romero's definitely isn't your typical Mexican restaurant found in the Houston area. The tortilla chips and salsa are both served warm. The salsa also isn't your typical tomato tasting salsa you normally get. The salsa has tons of flavor and a little heat to it, well at least for me. I typically eat on the spicier side and can handle much spicier foods. So the little amount of heat was a nice change from what i have normally experienced in Houston. Since it was the weekend, I decided to try the menudo which was spot on with plenty of hominy and tripe. The menudo comes with chopped cilantro and onions on the side as well as lime wedges and comes with three corn tortillas that seems to be made fresh in house. The charro beans are a must over the refried beans. They have a great smokiness to them from the bacon. The queso flameado con chorizo is also wonderful with a blend of Monterey Jack and Mozerella cheeses. Scooping up the flameado with the fresh corn tortillas leaves a wonderful mix of flavors. The enchiladas Mixtecas are superb with the traditional flavor to them that more reminiscent of the red enchiladas sauce flavor from New Mexico compared to the typical Tex-Mex flavors here. Finally, we have Mama's Mole which is two chicken drumsticks smothered in homemade mole sauce. The mole sauce wasn't what I was expecting. It was much sweeter than moles I have had in the past, but has a wonderful flavor that pairs nicely with the chicken. UPDATE: I added on the sopapillas after posting the review. The sopapillas are better than what I expected. Normally they are swimming in a sea of liquid caramel and topped with tons of powdered sugar. Not these. These were lightly topped with cinnamon and powdered sugar and had a classic honey drizzle on them. They were divine. I have definitely found my new go to Mexican restaurant in Houston and will definitely be returning. You can feel the love and time that is put into the food here.

I particularly do not like Romero's dinner plates, however their breakfast is good, until recently I was soured with a bad experience. I placed my order on Door Dash for breakfast as I always do I went to place the order and 5 minutes later someone from Door Dash calls me to tell me that there's a price difference which I was fine with and I said go ahead and charge the new amount. A few minutes later I get a text saying my order has been canceled. I called the restaurant and told me my order was still open and has been processed, and there's no drive scheduled to pick up my order. I then decide to call Door Dash and they told me Door Dash doesn't have the ability to cancel orders only the restaurant. I then decide to go get it myself after waiting 1.5Hrs I show up and now they want to charge me again. I ended up just leaving the food with them. Definitely will not be getting any of my future business. Also side note, I didn't like your atmosphere because I had to listen to AWEFUL singers you have come perform. It makes it super hard to socialize when the singer is bellowing AWEFUL music.

This place deserves a praise!! I was recommended by a colleague to come check out this restaurant, was told I must try Carne Guisada and this entree was a total explosion in my mind šŸ˜… meat was unbelievablely tender and the sauce complimented it well. I took it down with a Starberry Maragarita, and my meal was absolutely delicious the entire time. I ate everything all the way through down to the very last chip for my appetizer!! **My favorite part of this meal was how I could have a different bite every few moments, and i can play with my food. ** -Carne Guisada/Rice/Refried Beans with Corn and Flour Tortillas. -Chips came with JalapeƱos/Salsa+ My Queso order. One moment, I was eating the Carne on a Chip with some Salsa, come back with another bite of just Chip/Bean dip, another bite was Queso on rice with Carne, Now let's make a taco out of everything we got. You get the idea? What makes it more pleasurable is that the owner came by to see how I did. 5 out of 5 experience!!

First and for most I will not be going back to this place. I figured good reviews must mean it great food. The food was okay well at least everyone else’s food was okay, not mine at all I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE MOLE AT ALL. It’s the nastiest thing I’ve ever had and I love mole. The server Jose was a total ass. I asked if he liked it and all he could say was he couldn’t tell me because that’s where he works, serious. I asked okay then what does he recommend he answered the exact same thing and looked bothered šŸ˜• about a simple question. So I went ahead and got it. It was nasty not sweet not spice just flat out disgusting 🤢🤮. I let him know I didn’t like it and he was very rude about it my husband asked if I could get something else and he didn’t even want to take it. I asked if he could just take it off the ticket. He was very rude and and said ā€œ I’ll have to see; depending what the manger saysā€ like really. He made it a bigger deal then ever but he did take it off. And when he brought us the receipt he said ā€œnext time you need to ask for a sampleā€. Don’t you think if I knew that that was even an option I would have asked for one šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøor maybe he should have offered from the beginning. Usually when something like that happens the manager comes by and apologizes for it or at least see how everything else is going, nope not even that. The manager was talking to other tables(seems like every other one but ours). I couldn’t believe it to be honest. Besides that the only thing that was decent was the...

Very disappointed! I went with my husband to have breakfast for the first time at this restaurant. The waiter Jose was rude since the beginning. Unfortunately he was the only waiter. The restaurant didn't have that many people at the most 8 including us. No need to be rude. When he walked us to the table he just laid the menu on the table and left without saying anything. Didn't get our drinks. We waited for a while and finally asked for coffee. He finally came to get our orders. I had to get up to get silverware from another table due to not giving us napkins, my husband used one of the silverware's napkin to clean the table. We were considerate. He didn't bring our check. I set my card on the table. He just took it without saying anything. Brought back a receipt without details of the bill just the amount charged. When I asked for a detailed receipt he got offended. Mumbled a few words and said we don't have the need to overcharge anyone. I never implied that. As we walked out I approached him and told him that it is always good to know what you are paying for. He just looked at me and didn't care. But, whether he acknowledges he was at fault or not... He deserves to know how we as customers feel. When the customers are not rude or demanding and yet they are treated poorly. It is not worth returning to places like this. Very...
