I love working out at Ballet & Pilates by Victoria and my toddler loves taking ballet here. If you've never been here, it is located nextdoor to Primrose of Copperfield in the same building as Jazzercise (they share a lobby).
I started working out here two years ago. I was nervous joining a place owned by a former professional ballerina as I figured everyone who attended classes must be extremely talented (and maybe judgemental and unfriendly...silly, I know). This couldn't be further from the truth. Individuals in all stages of fitness ability and skill come here and it's easy to see why- every single instructor as well as Victoria are incredibly friendly and accepting. It's a "come as you are" type of place. Seriously- as in I have attended classes with those at the beginning of their fitness journey (all shapes and sizes) to those who are athletes. The instructors are very good about providing levels of difficulty within each exercise as well as a range of modifications for those with injuries, pregnancy, etc. I remember my first class kicked my butt and I thought I'd never be able to keep up with everyone else in the class. In reality, the instructors help push you to become "stronger today, than yesterday." Not to sound cheesy, but after two years there it feels like family.
As for children's ballet, this summer will be the second one for my 3 year old to take classes here. She is so excited to be a ballerina again. The instructors are all moms (or aunts) to little ones themselves and they know how to make it fun and engaging! One day I'd love for her to be able to attend ballet year round, but right now the times conflict with my work schedule.
Additionally, classes are easy to schedule through the MindBody app and they offer free childcare for almost every class. I have taken Barre, Adult Ballet, Pilates, and Stretch classes here and they are all WONDERFUL. I love that you are not locked into a specific class or time as you schedule each class individually. I would suggest scheduling classes at least one week in advance as they can fill up. Even if a class says it's full, sign up for the waitlist and you're most likely going to get in as other people have things come up and have to cancel...
Read moreThis is a review for the kids dance classes. I cannot speak for the pilates classes.
We stayed through 1 semester of ballet classes for our 3 year old. Of the 45 minute class, 15-20 minutes was the children sitting on their spot, waiting for their turn to do across the floors. The teachers were very slow with setting up across the floors or handing out props. Just a lot of down time, sitting and waiting. The classes could have been run MUCH more efficiently. It was a waste of time and money. We tried to back out after 3 classes, but the cancellation policy was ridiculous and they told us that the class would be more active while preparing for recital. It wasn't.
We attended the end of year recital, and ALL of the dances were abysmal (except my daughter's, which was actually upbeat and age appropriate for 3 year olds). The groups with older dancers (6+ years) were off sync, it was like they didn't teach counting the beats at all. The dances were pretty much switching between hitting a pose or a beginner level move such as tapping pointed feet. I don't remember seeing one pirouette or leap. When I did dance classes as a child, we had pirouette's and leaps in our choreography by age 7/8.
If you're serious about your child learning dance techniques, this is not the...
Read moreI absolutely love B&P By Victoria!! I have been a member here since September and am just in love with it. All the instructors are so knowledgeable about proper body mechanics while providing a great workout in order to avoid injury. The classes are upbeat and always different, therefore the workouts are varied and you're really targeting different parts of the body. The owner, Victoria, is so so kind. On many different occasions, she provided a personal touch. I am pregnant and one time she called to let me know that the AC was out and she was concerned about my comfort for the upcoming class; I have never experienced that kind of customer service in any gym environment. While utilizing the FREE CHILDCARE!! (another incredible perk!!), my daughter was crying after I dropped her off. Victoria asked me if she could give my sweet, crying daughter some Cheerios in order for her to feel better. She is so kind and thoughtful toward all of her members. I don't want to go anywhere else; I get an amazing workout and I love all the instructors and the amazing attention to members that we receive. You will fall...
