I had order for the first time from here last year and the food was very good. I had actually stopped here because I live closer in the area but originally I had bought meat boards from Smoky rose by the Dallas arboretum since they were closer from work. Because I received more guest and family then expected I was short so stopped by and I bought a rack of ribs their potato salad from Shortys. Everything was good, my mom really like it from shortys better then smoky rose and their customer service was great too from when I when so with that in mind I called today to ask about their hours they greeted me and told us the hours. I was told to hold which it was fine but then when the lady took me of hold she said “shortys” and disconnected the call.
I was reading the reviews as well as I waited on the phone and noticed that people have had great experiences and then bad ones. It seems like this restaurant is experiencing inconsistency when it comes to the quality and taste of the food and the service. No expert but I think management should make sure quality and service remains consistent, people like a warm and welcoming restaurant and also like to know that the experience they had before would be the same or better. I understand COVID might have impacted the quality or service they provide for perhaps due to shortage of staff but I hope they find a solution and overcome these...
Read moreWe've visited the Seagoville location quite a few times but this last experience (2/11/20) with our food & customer service was horrific! The ribs were old and smelled very bad. When I called and spoke with an employee by the name of Steven, he first offered me fresh ribs right off the grill. In which I responded why wouldn’t the ones I just purchased be fresh, he was then rude and cut me off when I was explaining to him about the food. I asked him to give me the owners name and number, his response was “I’m busy with other customers, you can google it”. But then proceeded to give me the number. I called the owner Mrs.Green that evening and left a message about how poorly I was treated as a repeat customer.
On 2/12/20 12pm I received a text message from Mrs.Green apologizing for my experience and she would be glad to accommodate me with another meal. I responded to her text that I would’ve appreciated a call back not a text message. She replied she was at a catering event and just wanted to reach out to me as she had just heard my message but she would call me later. At 6pm I sent a text to Mrs.Green asking if she was going to call me back this evening, but I didn’t receive a reply.
Needless to say we will never visit Shortys again, due to bad customer service which is top priority to me, but apparently not to them. I guess losing one customer is no big deal to...
Read moreSmells great walking in the door. This has to be some of the worst tasting bbq I have had (the other place is that guy with the trailer in the Super One Foods parking lot down the road). The ribs appeared and smelled to be boiled, the brisket (even w/the fat) was dry, the chicken was super dry and the links should just not be served. Not sure why they would sell mac-and-cheese that tastes like that. Nothing seemed to be smoked. When I first started learning to smoke meats years ago, my worst finished products tasted much better than this. They should be ashamed for charging premium prices for this garbage!
Update: Thank you Brad for trying to make this right. That won't be necessary. I have attached a photo of one (we bought 4) of the ribs that we purchased. With ribs, we normally like to see a smoke ring and a bit of charring on the edges, which tends to add to the flavor. Being from Texas, we are certain of what a good smoked rib should look and taste like. The second photo (for comparison) is of a roast that I smoked last year. Though the two meats are different, you can see that the roast has a distinctive smoke ring and some slight charring present (my ribs come out looking the same). This is what my family looks for in a good "smoked" rib.
I forgot to mention...The gumbo was pretty tasty, though! We went to the store on 12-9-2023 at...
