Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Texas

We know Christmas Day is a crapshoot if you’re looking for food. We realize there are staffing issues. This is why we waited patiently for 25 minutes on our food to be brought to our car before inquiring if there was a problem. Finally my husband went into the store to see what was wrong after waiting more than 10 minutes with no response to the call button at the car stall we were in. They told him they cancelled the order awhile ago because they were understaffed. There were 3 cars in the stalls and 4 at drive through. They cancelled the order but did not even tell us and ignored the call button at the stall. The last time we went we ordered only sundaes they literally wiped fudge on inside of the cup and filled with vanilla ice cream. Not even a teaspoon worth of hot fudge. I didn’t write a bad review, I believe in second chances. Leaving a family waiting knowing that you are not preparing their food and ignoring them in hopes they will leave is unacceptable. We live 3 blocks away and will never order from this location again. This franchise owner needs a new manager the one they have obviously does not know how to manage...

This wasn't really my thing (I prefer to sit inside a restaurant and eat) but even so, I would give it five stars. You drive up to a space and park, and when you are ready to order, press the button and place your order with a staff that's incredibly friendly and courteous, and prompt with their service. The food (lunch and dinner items) aren't exceptional, but they are filling. Sonic is more well known for their wide variety of shakes and sundaes, and those never disappoint. There are so many different combinations and options in the dessert department that you are almost guaranteed to find something you like. I would NOT recommend this as a place to eat if you are lactose intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, or have a gluten allergy; though you can find options on the menu that are vegetarian I wouldn't say it really constitutes as a meal and you can find a greater variety of options elsewhere. Very dissatisfied. I ordered a medium fries and a coke, very simple. My order came out 40 minutes later, and there were only three other cars at my time of ordering. I paid for my meal with a 20 dollar bill, and they would not give me change. They claimed that they were out of change, and I only owed 2.86$. They took my 20 and would not even pay me in small bills. Yes, I was forced to pay 20$ for fries (1.99) and a medium drink (1.69). After hearing this and that they didn’t have change, I asked if I could give back my food (that I had been waiting 40 minutes for) and keep my 20$, which would mean that I didn’t loose money, they didn’t loose food, but I would have ultimately lost 40 minutes of my day.
