Both me and my cousin were heavily racially discriminated against. One of the white managers (I believe) named Maeen Saleem locked the door on us and 2 other black people behind us. He told us we couldn't come in, yet they were other, mainly white customers present. Eventually he opened the door and rudely told us that if we aren't ordering at the line immediately, we have to leave. Mind you every time I show up at this location I always order and never cause a disturbance. Then as me and my cousin ordered we sat down and waited for our food. The assumed manger locks the door again as some other black people were trying to get in. When we waited for our food we were served with staler fries that usual. As we were eating some of our friends were telling us how the assumed manager and another assumed manager (of what I believe is of middle eastern descent) told them they had to leave their stuff outside. As me and my cousin kept eating my friends eventually left and they texted me saying I could use the cup that they left behind. As I got the cup the white general manager tells me I should throw it away, and I inform him that it's my friends and he nastily looks me up and down and says "sure". At this point I’m so irritated from the service and appalled by this racist behavior. Once I sit back down and discuss how rude everyone has been, the assumed middle eastern manager tells us we have to go that they're "closing", mind you it's 3 in the afternoon. So I then tell her that we're still eating then she says we need to hurry up. I call her out for being racist and she says that she's not and that she's kicking me out because I "stole". I'm over here confused and she shows me security footage on her phone of me taking the cup that my friend left behind and that she's going to call the police. I tell her that that's my friends cup and it's disgusting how she assumed I stole it when they clearly left. Me and my cousin get fed up from everything so we decide to leave and call both of them out on their racism. This was a truly hateful incident and this is not the first time a level of racial discrimination has occurred here. Once I was with my cousin again and my asian friend eating our food and a white grown guy tells my cousin to move his chair in, my cousin does so as the guy goes somewhere but eventually my cousin brings it back out since the guy was gone for a while. When the guy comes back he slightly yells and tells my cousin "I thought I would you to move the damn chair" (mind you my cousin is a minor) and we just looked at each other. My cousin tells us that “he needs to relax” then they guy stands up from his chair aggressively asking “What did you say?” as if he’s trying to start a fight with my teenage cousin while the guys family is seated with him. Then the manager with glasses told us that we all need to leave, even though we’ve done nothing. We didn’t want a confrontation so we decided to leave. Absolutely unacceptable, disgusting and...
Read moreI love Whataburger's food and stop by this or other locations maybe two times per month. Online ordering is great because it's harder to mess things up - although they still forget the gravy sometimes which makes the tender meal worthless. So today I drive into the drive through to grab a burger for lunch and the young man asks me "How's it hanging?" (straight and a little smaller than usual because I've been pumping iron, but I just want my burger so I keep this to myself). Not quite the Chick-fil-a approach, but whatever. #1 + mayo, no to the offer for bacon, no to the offer for jalapenos, no to the offer for a collectable cup, yes to ketchup for my fries, etc.. I go up to the window to pay and a woman there again tries to sell me a collectors cup... I get home and realize I've had bacon added to the burger and didn't get any ketchup - both, accidental or not, conveniently in the financial interest of the restaurant P&L. I'm not sure if it's new ownership at the location or Whataburger's PE owners out of NYC (BDT & MSD Partners) but the collector cup thing annoyed me and the bacon and no catchup gave me the motivation to write a review. I just want a burger that's made correctly and without a merch hard sell. Basically, a...
Read moreAs soon as I walked in, I recognized this place had a great atmosphere — warm, welcoming, and relaxed. The food was tasty itself — clearly satisfying — but what made the experience really memorable was the outstanding service, especially from Brandon.
Brandon is, without a doubt, one of the chillest, most genuine employees I've ever had the pleasure to meet. He wasn't just friendly; he went way out of his way to make me feel at ease and looked after. His energy, kind nature, and attention to detail led to the whole visit being effortless and enjoyable. It doesn't happen very often these days to meet someone who has the power to make a customer feel that special without it feeling insincere — with Brandon, everything just came naturally.
While the food was ok, it's the service that will make me return — and honestly, just because of Brandon, I will go back in a heartbeat. The restaurant's ambiance was great in general, but Brandon elevated the whole experience to a 10/10. If you ever require a place where you are treated like more than just any old customer, then come on over — and hope you are fortunate enough to have Brandon serve you. Standing ovation for him...
