Vito's Famous — Restaurant in Texas

This is the ABSOLUTE BEST CHEESESTEAK IN TOWN! No others are even close, so don't bother. I won't even consider going other places when I need a cheesesteak. They've totally spoiled me. My BF is from the northeast and could never find cheesesteaks that reminded him of home anywhere in texas, until we found Vitos years ago. Now we come back as often as we can, because the 40 minute drive is completely worth it!

The bread for the sandwiches is so soft and delicious, and they chop the onions, peppers and cheese directly into the meat, so it's all melty and perfect! Never had it done that way in Texas before. Most places will just put the stuff on top of the meat. Having it mixed in is a whole other experience completely. If you haven't had it yet, you gotta try it.

The Italian sandwich is also the best I've ever had, with perfectly thinly shaved meats AND thinly shaved hard cheeses. I'd never had that anywhere (except maybe fancy salads at high end restaurants), and it's a total game changer! It makes every single bite just as delicious as the last.

Only thing I wish is that I lived closer so I could eat there more often.

This has been a long time coming, and I should have made this review FAR sooner. Best Philly cheesesteak sandwich in Houston/Spring/anywhere in Texas as far as I'm concerned. The man himself is friendly and seems genuinely passionate about what he does, about his food, about giving the best service and best quality food for his customers. Some years ago the man even called me up when I ordered from him through GrubHub and for whatever reason my order was not delivered to me but I was charged, which was GrubHub's end of things. I didn't even know yet, but he called me to let me know, so me and my partner drove to him to pick it up. He not only remade them fresh, let us keep the other two we ordered through GrubHub but also gave us some free cannoli for the trouble. These sandwiches are fantastic, I can not stress that enough, but more fantastic is Vito and his staff. Always friendly and courteous, they've even gone out of their way to cut us deals here and there, always smiling, just such a wonderful restaurant with wonderful people. Well, I am from NY and have been eating good pizza my whole life so I KNOW PIZZA. I have been living in Houston going on 3 years now and spent the first two trying to find a good slice of pizza. Took me about a year to find Brothers Pizza which is the worst Pizza you can get in NY but for a while I thought was the best Pizza in Houston. Now that I have found this place, I now have a pizza that compares to NY. Man, I am just glad I am lucky enough to live right around the corner from them as I did for so many years in Brooklyn from Lenny's. This place is really great. They use fresh toppings and though they don't have the specialty pizzas like my old Brooklyn spot, they certainly make a Darn Good Fresh Pizza. So take it from someone who has been eating authentic NY Pizza for the duration of his life. This is about as good as it gets. If you're looking for a good Sicilian (Square) slice of Pizza, then you should try Romano's! Google the name and best Sicilian pizza and you'll get directions. Happy eating everyone!
