Growing up in Houston, Shipley’s was synonymous with comfort and indulgence. The memory of fresh, soft, and delectable glazed donuts, still warm from the oven, is etched in my mind. The kolaches were a delightful treat, soft, warm, and bursting with flavor.
However, my recent experiences at the location in The Colony have been less than satisfying. A weekend tradition with the kids, the quality of both the donuts and kolaches has noticeably dipped. The once-tempting glazed and iced donuts have become smaller and lack the flavor they once had. Even more disappointing, the kolaches are now hard and not warm, a far cry from the soft and flavorful treats I once enjoyed. This location’s decline is a stark contrast to other Shipley’s I’ve visited, and it’s disheartening to see my go-to place lose some of its charm.
I hope that Shipley’s will address these issues, so that I can once again enjoy the taste that I grew up loving. Three stars for now, with hope for improvement...
Read moreI went to grab a box of a dozen donuts and an iced coffee. The iced coffee was fine, although I ordered a large and was not given one, nor could I confirm if I was charged for a large as I was not given a receipt. I could see two employees behind the counter, one who I believe was taking drive through orders and greeted me, and the second who eventually took my order. The one who took my order came off as very impatient with me which I did not appreciate. When I got home and opened the box of donuts with my family they had been in disarray as they hadn’t been packed properly in the box. Additionally, even though it was just shy of 11 when I went, selection was extremely limited and could not tell full selection as things weren’t labeled or were mixed with other items, and the donuts were dry as if they had been sitting out for over a day. I do not recommend this location, nor will I return to it which is a shame because I have enjoyed the donuts I’ve gotten at...
Read moreI have been coming here for over a year almost every Sunday before church. I spend a decent amount of money every time I come. I don’t know if they have given up or something now that the Dunkin’ opened but the donuts today were horrible!!! One of them a maple long John was so stale it crunched and it was supposed to be custard filled and not even half of it was filled… I also got 4 Kolache none of which were fresh and 2 of them were so old, they were too hard to eat… finally I ordered a milk the kid at the window had handed me 2 bags then just stared at me. I asked if everything was in the bags he said yes. I said what about the milk and he realized he forgot it… so on top of the bad food, it was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. this is sad because it used to be my favorite location… unless changes are made I probably will...
