By the water and in a nice area, there's a parking garage nearby and some but not a lot of street parking. It was quiet but they had a nice outdoor patio area, we ended up sitting inside. There only seemed to be a handful of servers and our server became busy as we sat there. Some of our drinks were forgotten a couple times and we had to try and flag the server down. Everything else was good and the drinks were good aside from the inconsistent service which wasn't too bad otherwise. They were still friendly and tried to be attentive.
We started with a glass of the Mily Way Sake and an Agave Raindrop. Both were very good and I definitely recommend it. We ordered a variety of items but started with the truffle salmon. Loved how the truffle paired with the salmon overall and it was very good. We did come during happy hour so had this for the happy hour price. We ordered the Uni King Crab Spoon and the Bafun Uni Sashimi with a quail egg on top. I loved both and loved how buttery the uni was. I also ordered the a5 uni caviar handroll which was very good. Our friends ordered the (Snow Crab) Shaggy Dog Roll, the Jalapeno Roll and the Robusta Maki. All were pretty good but I think I liked the Robusta Maki the best but all were pretty good. The Crudo Hirame was recommended but I think it was either too salty or acidic but I wasn't the biggest fan. I didn't know that it also came in the bloofin special that my husband ordered so I would have refrained from ordering it if I had known. The bloofin special came with a sea bass sulmono soup which was amazing, I would recommend ordering that separately. The Hughes Landing Maki was pretty good, i definitely enjoyed that.
Overall, the food was pretty good and some misses for me. I'm not sure if it's all worth the price but overall very good. I do recommend the agave raindrop and the n/naka cocktails.
Definitely worth coming for happy...
Read moreWe took my son to Bloofin for his 21st birthday this last weekend.
He absolutely loved it! We made a reservation and they made sure to set aside a booth by the windows, overlooking the Waterway, which was perfect.
Or server, Amber was so sweet and attentive. The manager came out and personally greeted us and told my son Happy Birthday.
This was our first time here and I definitely want to go back now.
We started off with the Red Pepper Calamari. Holy moly! Best calamari I've ever had. The texture was perfect. And it was drizzled with a sweet n spicy glaze. Yum! It was a HIT
I ordered the Glazed Teriyaki Salmon and it was perfect. It was served on a bed of broccoli and carrots, with a side of white rice. Beautiful presentation but most importantly.... delicious!
Everyone kept asking me repeatedly for 'just a bite'. Lol.
My husband got the Shaggy Roll and my daughter got the Wagyu sushi roll.
Both looked stunning, plated so nicely, and they were very pleased and were happily sampling eachothers' plates too.
My son the Birthday Boy, ordered the Bloofin Special. It was an amazing choice!
The presentation was stunning and he loved trying so many different choices!
Such a gorgeous presentation. They came out with a wood box, logo engraved, and it was inset with colorful flower bowls, each one filled with a different sushi sampling.
He had a lot of fun deciding which one to choose next.
They proceed a birthday dessert of creme brulee with a choice of souffle, raspberry, mango and espresso.
He had the raspberry sorbet, my daughter ordered one too, and she chose the espresso.
Can't say enough good things about Bloofin
This was exactly what he was hoping...
Read moreMy partner and I wanted to give Bloofin a try before our concert; and given the raving reviews, we had really high expectations!
We tried almost all of the toyosu specials (nigiri, pictured) as well as the Hama chili, tuna tartare, crazy roll, and caviar roll
The Hama chilli was the best thing we tried - and I highly recommended giving it a try if you haven’t! It is almost an exact replica of the same dish at Uchi - so if you’re a fan of that you’ll love this one
The tuna tartare was pretty good too; really nice portions for the money on both of these starters
Both rolls really fell flat for us; with the crazy roll being overpowered by both the sauce and crispy potatoes. The caviar roll was essentially just a salmon roll wrapped with a bit of roe.
The toyosu was the most disappointing for us. We ordered madai, kurodai, as well as other common toyosu that we generally love and every piece really just was not good. The fish had a really tough texture with the cuts being overly heavy with skin - and the flavor itself was very strange. The pairings with the dressings were alright, but ultimately we stopped eating before we made it to the last pieces because we were just not into any of it.
Lastly, the service was just alright. We saw reviewers stating the staff was just super knowledgeable and over the top in making recommendations. Service was pleasant and fine for us but not as described.
I think this is likely a great place for the location but I disagree with other reviewers...
