I definitely needed to wash my clothes after visiting because of the smell of the smoker.the customer service was phenomenal. He's a genuinely good dude with some decent offerings.
We placed a fat order so here's the skinny in my view:
I highly reccomend the pork and the beans (and I usually hate beans, but my lady loves them so I was able to sample....and they were surprisingly fantastic).
The brisket is alright, could benefit from a tad more flavor. But worth a taste.
I don't recommend the ribs, the turkey leg, the potato salad, or the Mac n cheese. The ribs in particular had a lot of cartilage (or, that weird hard white cylindrical stuff that lines each cut of meat on the bone). That was hauntingly unpleasant to both chew and taste, and I can't recall ever seeing that elsewhere, although I'm sure it's perfectly natural etcetera etcetera.
His sauce could use some tweaking; I'm really not picky, it was okay but was lacking something and there is very little of it on every dish we ordered (on the portions we received at least). If you have some Kinders BBQ sauce, add it to anything offered here and you can't go wrong (except if you're a texture sensitive person with the ribs).
But if he's around, and you don't mind the smell of campfire on your clothing until the next batch of laundry, please give this man's grub a shot. Love the music, fantastic dude....
Read moreSept 11 is "Spare Ribs" day for us as it is the anniversary of my wife's motorcycle accident where she broke 11 ribs (among other bones) and we always celebrate with BBQ ribs! We had called a couple of times to see if they were open as we have never been there before and ended up picking up some ribs from "the other place". Shortly after, Mario called saying that he saw that we had tried calling a couple of times (Note - we did not leave any messages) and we placed an order, 'cause hey, ya can't have enough ribs! Mario stayed open until my wife arrived and loaded her up with all of the yummies. These are hands down the best ribs, beef franks and sides that we have found in Colorado! Great food coupled with an owner that really cares about both his business enough to call a number back as well provide unbelievable customer service makes this THE place to go to for BBQ done right -...
Read moreIf you have not yet had the pleasure of tasting the BEST BBQ, in Colorado hands down, then you'd better get to Southern Pit, just off Washington and 88th, wedged just on the side of Auto Zone. It is the same shopping center where the neighborhood Wal-Mart, and Xfinity resides. There is no comparisons to his BBQ here in Colorado, and I'm certain he could compete with anyone in ANY State. He works out of his mobile food trailer, and serves Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Hot Links, Turkey Legs, Chicken. His side dished are Baked Beans, with brisket inside, Potato Salad, Slaw, Mac & Cheese. He sells single plates, and an entire family platter that is not ONLY large, but will feed many family members and friends. He also caters events. Owner's name is Mario, and the man is extremely humble and very pleasant. Stop by and see him, taste his food, and I'm certain you won't...
