Farmer Boys — Restaurant in Thousand Oaks

The combination of fresh, tasty ingredients, quick friendly service and a clean environment, made for an excellent experience and I will def be back.

Went in during the lunch rush and didn't have to wait to be served. Food was moderately priced. I ordered a double farm cheeseburger combo, vanilla milkshake and the Fish and Chips. Food came within 5 minutes of sitting down and it was hot!

Fries: The fries were crisp on the outside and salted to perfection. Where most fries have no potato middle or are fried too much, these fries were perfect.

Vanilla Milkshake: I hardly ever finish my milkshake when I do order them. Often times they are just too sugary. This milkshake though was so good. It wasn't too sugary, it tasted like the perfect blend of milk and ice cream, and was a good thickness.

Fish and Chips: I was really impressed with the choice of fish. They used Cod, and the batter was thin and light. The fish was flakey and crisp. Sometimes when I order fish and chips the fish comes out dripping with oil or very wet, this was not the case here. They did a great job.

Cheeseburger: The meat was perfect. It didn't have pieces of fat or grizzle. The meat was very tender and soft and the flavor was supreme. They did a great job seasoning it also. It had a taste like they had an old grill in the back. The vegetables they used in the burger were perfect too. Chopped onions instead of an onion disk which often times is too thick. The lettuce was considerate and used the portions of the leaves that were soft and not thick and white. I was also pleased with the bread as it was very soft but not so much that it lost form. Pickles were sweet to the taste and the tomatoes were just the right thickness.

Overall: I was very impressed and will have to go back to try their breakfast. I like that they have a drive thru line and it seemed to move fairly quickly considering this is not...

Good thing when I went in around noon it wasn't that big rush like most fast food joint. But my food kinda took awhile to be served. I would say almost 10mins but I guessed that's just how it took to prep their food. Food was great. Burger almost the same size as burger King whopper. But the regular soda was more than $3 than I thought. Inflation is really affecting.

8/10/24 Edited review: I would like to get management attention regarding customer service. We may understand that there are days staff arent in the mood working with customers , but it is not appropriate dealing with customers with an attitude isnt right at all. We tried to be reasonable with our order perhaps maybe it can be change but this cashier response is unreasonable that she wont let us finish explaining the issue and that shes already trying to tell the back kitchen to fix the order. When she started taking our order, she didnt have that URGE of taking our order. Didnt have the charisma working with customer. Im thinking she is new since i havent seen her here before. Mostly when i come by its usually the managers who is manning the front.

I go to Farmer Boys on a 09/17/2022 thinking I’m going to enjoy a $2 juicy burger. I get there at 6:55 and am told to wait. 5 minutes later I get a response “Hi welcome to Farmer Boys how can I help you”. I graciously ask for the $2 delicious juicy burger. I’m met with, “I’m sorry we closed that down, the last order was at 6. I’m sitting there confused as it is 6 on the dot and could have received my order if she would have taken it 5 minutes ago when I was there. I told her, “so I could have ordered the burger if you would have taken my order 5 minutes ago?” And she says, “yes but we stopped at 6 and the car in front of you was the last order.” I decide to shake it off in understanding as I did arrive 5 minutes until they stopped the promotion (wish they would have stated that online or something) and ask for a delicious real ice cream vanilla shake. I am met with another, “sorry we are no longer making shakes at this time”. Mind you the place closes at 11pm. I backed out of the drive though distraught over my experience.
