A wonderful surprise and a great addition to the Thousand Oaks food scene!
This place opened about a month or so ago, so it’s very crowded. That coupled with the fact it’s a kiosk order where customers can choose items from four different restaurants and there being only two machines, means that ordering can take a while; I waited about 10 minutes to order. I hope that they add more kiosks in the future or have a person who can take your order to speed up the process.
Wait over, the food has great quality ingredients, bread and desserts were pretty fresh and it all came out relatively quick considering the high quality.
I had the Mini Kabob and was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was tender, juicy, and filled with strong Mediterranean flavors. The lavash bread was well toasted and had great char flavor to it. I personally love the addition of slaw for textural variety and the peppers were smoky and I wish there were more of them! The two sauces were both great additions. One was a chili oil with a subtle spice to it and the other was tutzikki, always a hit.
I also had to get the chocolate chip cookie after I got a free sample in line. I’m a “make it at home” kind of cookie guy, but I would ABSOLUTELY get this one again. The bottom and edges were crispy, the inside was doughy and they did not skimp on the dark chocolate!
Overall, Neighborly was way better than I expected and I am looking forward to trying more at...
Read moreI've been to Neighborly twice and enjoyed it both times.
My favorite entree is the salmon rice bowl, which comes with pesto salmon, herbed rice, slice avocados, green beans with sun dried tomatoes and some green salad. Totally delicious and big enough for 2 meals.
They also have delicious coconut soft serve ice cream that you can have alone or with toppings.
My lunch mate complained about the various things she didn't like about Neighborly, like the too-loud music. However, I'm ok with the whole setup.
The only thing that's confusing is the electronic order menu, but I think it helps if you look at the menu ahead of time online.
That way, you know what you want and can quickly process your order.
The gift shop is cute and I enjoyed the cookie samples.
The wait staff was also helpful. A shout-out to Mike, who comped me a strawberry "Saturdae" (as opposed to a sundae). He was especially kind and helpful.

Read moreIt was my first time having food at Neighborly. I live in West Hills but my son lives in TO and suggested I try this on my way home. I ordered the Salad Sandwich, the Spicy Rigatoni and the Asian green beans. Then splurged and got 4 cookies. Everything was wonderful. The food was ready and properly labeled when I stopped to pick it up. The inside of Neighborhly is so charming with a few items you can purchase to make a nice gift of the food you buy if it’s for a friend who may need a meal. Although I had a little issue with the cookies, Kevin, the Manager made it perfectly right and even made my day by gifting me with a credit for the next time I visit…which will be soon! Stop here because it’s so awesome to have so many choices of foods for a meal all ready in one place and also many options for kids. This will become a weekly...
