The Mighty Axe — Restaurant in Thousand Oaks

From start to finish our experience was underwhelming. The customer service was terrible with the exception of the person that helped check us in & help us with our reservation-She gets 5 stars. Aside from that, the bartender took 25 minutes to get my husband and I our drinks. (Initially we asked for a minute to order because the rest of our friends were in the restroom but they returned within 5 minutes.) Initially when my friends all sat at the bar one of my friend was tired & because of that she was denied drinks. Our group decided to try to continue our night anyways since we had a reservation. After about 45 minutes of being denied the first time she went up to the bar again to try to order asking the bartender if she was okay to drink now and was denied again. 40 more minutes later my friend and I went to the bar for Jell-O shots for our group and she asked if it was for the group that had the girl she had denied service to and I was honest, yes it was for our group & I let her know that my friend didn’t have anything to drink for the day. The bartender replied stating that my friend was sleeping at the bar and slurring her words & overheard my friend talking about how tired she was. We decided to only order 6 for the remaining people in our group to avoid conflict. Upon paying and leaving the bar, the bartender followed us & “low key” told the bouncer to watch us to make sure she did not consume the shots we had. This made us extremely uncomfortable as they made it very obvious & almost seemed eager to kick us out. This place is AMAZING!!! What a blast.

We're a family of five and our three kids are in town for Christmas. They all brought their partners with them, which made us a family of eight. Christmas was epic and we had to keep it rolling, and somehow my wife heard about this place. It's 50 miles from our home, but we loaded up a couple cars and made the trek.

This was SO MUCH FUN.

We rented out two things (lanes?) for an hour. Wait, let me back up. We got there a half hour early and camped out in their waiting arena and enjoyed craft beers and fun bar games. And then it was our turn and we moved to our lanes.

None of us knew what to do, but our "Axe-pert" gave us a safety orientation and some lessons, and then the fun began.

About half of us (including me) were epically horrible at it. If the blunt end of the axe were pointy, then maybe our odds would have improved. But no, it was up to us to up our game. Our guide returned and repeated the tips. And son-of-a-gun if we all didn't absolutely rock it (in our own minds). Our axes started sticking and our scores started to climb.

The hour was just perfect. We all had a great time and can't wait to do it again.

I'm rambling here, but the gist of it that the place was incredible, the staff were professional fun and supportive, and the activity couldn't have been more fun. I think the biggest compliment was today when we were out on a walk and our kids were all brainstorming about how we could build an axe throwing lane in our yard. This is the place to have ANY event. We had a Baby shower/work team event here. Dustin & Ryan and their team are easy to work with. They made it super simple. Everyone had a great time! Even those who were against going here, had a great time! They were one of the people who made it to the final bracket! The food was the freshest sushi and pizza! You would think, "how good can the food be. Probably going to taste like food you have at a kids party"...this was not a kids party! The food was so fresh and so much of it! I was worried there would not be enough. There was plenty! I am going to go back with my family and friends! This was my first time going to the Mighty Axe. I was pleasantly surprised at how quaint it was decorated! The smell of pine trees thought out. As for the Axe throwing, Dustin and his team explained how to throw an Axe in detail!.
