This place is quite the experience. Not so much a culinary experience though. Do you remember that MTV show Boiling Points? Where they screw with people relentlessly and if you don't explode in a certain amount of time, you win $100? This place is like that, except nobody gets any prizes and you wind up having to call your credit card company in the end.
We made a really basic order over the phone and were told that it would take 25-30 minutes. We showed up 30 minutes later, and there was a lobby full of very frustrated people waiting for their food. The heat was sweltering, and there was no A/C. It didn't take long to realize something was very wrong here. People were complaining that they had been waiting an hour and a half for their food. I watched two different groups threaten to cancel their order. Each time, the hostess ran back to the kitchen and produced a bag of food for them.
One guy came back into the restaurant after leaving for ten minutes. He had been promised that his food would finally be done if he would just wait five more minutes. He came in ten minutes later and was told that his order had been canceled because they thought he left. He tried to get a refund and they played dumb about the fact that he had already paid and he finally gave up and said he'd come back tomorrow to figure out the bill (like me, he probably had plans for the night and didn't have time for this nonsense)
A group walked in and asked to be seated for a table and the hostess looked into the dining room (empty) and looked back and said that this would take a while. Confused, I looked closely at the dining room for the first time and realized that even though there were no people in there, every single table was covered in dirty dishes (some of them stacked up as if they were dishes from other tables that were piled up there instead of being taken to the kitchen.)
At this point, I started to get antsy. I started asking where my order was. I was told (like everyone else that had asked the question) that it was coming in 10-15 minutes). I asked them why they gave me an estimate of 25 minutes an hour and a half ago. They said they had a big rush after i called. I asked how people who called after me could possibly slow down my order. They had no answer, just fidgeted and left the room. I asked the one remaining employee what they were going to do to compensate me for this. They said there was nothing they could do about the bill but they could give me some soup. Then they said:
"It will be old soup though, is that ok?"
I asked to cancel my order and i was told no, that i should wait while they talk to their manager. As I pulled away, i saw the hostess running out the door with a bag of food, like I had seen for the previous two people who threatened to cancel. I have no idea what was in that bag, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't what i ordered. I'm no genius, but if you had my order ready, i probably wouldn't have had to threaten to cancel in the first place, right? You would have just brought it out when you were supposed to.
They may have great food. I'll never know. But unless you have hours of time to kill and a saint-level amount of patience, try Lin's down the street. They were honest about the fact that they were backed up and it would take 45 minutes to fill the order and it's too bad I trusted Chinese...
Read moreWow. Driving down the Oregon coast and thought we’d stop here for vegetarian lunch. We were the only guests there when we entered around 3pm…
-Hot sour soup was extremely vinegary (we’ve had it MANY times across the country and even made it ourselves..) first dish- gen tso tofu ($12.50) came with a tiny (1/2 cup) portion of rice 2nd and 3rd ($12) dishes- vegetable Tofu and curry tofu were good and came with a “fair” amount of rice (which was delivered way after the meals)
During our stay it took a long time to get water refills and we were never really “waited on”
My husband took my girls (4, 22mo) to the bathroom and one of the women who “waited” on us came over- asked if we wanted boxes- I said yes please
I also asked for “some” rice to eat our leftover meals with
Well, the check came ($49.50) with an additional, unmarked $6 charge
We waited around at the entry by the cash register waiting to pay the bill
Since we waited (some time) I stepped out with my LITTLE girls to begin the process of loading the car…
Next thing I know- crazy waitress is chasing my (33wk pregnant) self down waving the bill at me asking if I requested the rice
I guess my husband learned it was rice that was a $6 up charge and probably made the point that was slightly ridiculous considering at most Asian places it’s free/cheap and no one was informed of the charge
I told the woman she should just be glad we’re paying for it and to please go inside, swipe the card for the full $49.50
Ok
I resume loading girls…
Crazy woman comes chasing us down AGAIN, this time my husband also behind her- she literally had her arms through our van door and I asked her to back away from my car so we could shut the door…(I had tried closing it but ya know with her body standing there it wasn’t moving- THATS how close she was)
SHE HAD CHARGED THE CARD FOR THE FULL $49.50 and was mad we didn’t leave a tip. Tip. As in a gesture for nice service… anyone wondering why NOT?!
SHE THEN got another large male customer involved who KNEW NOTHING and started verbally harassing my husband.
So yeah- we won’t be back- and I suggest future customers consider the irrational behavior of the staff here before ordering mediocre Asian food…
Sincerely, A very distressed pregnant mother I don’t have photos- just video of her half inside the van…still yelling at me after they made...
Read moreSadly i have to give them 1 star. The food was not good, and found a hair halfway through my meal😭 we had brocolli and beef (wich was not that bad), rice, and a side of orange chicken. The portions are big. The orange chicken was so bland, the sauce tasted like it was watered down. They also served this red and yellow sauce with 2 egg rolls. The yellow sauce smelled like CHEMICALS!! The smell was so strong almost like paint thinner or acetone. We were to embarrassed to ask, and didn't think anything would be done anyway. The service was actually good, but the quality of the food unfortunately was not. I was hoping it would be good, since there are not too many options here in tillamook. Will not be...
