It seems that my random name generator has led me to yet another greasy spoon restaurant catering to the first responder and veteran community. I have nothing against them, as I was once a first responder myself. However, like everyone else, they deserve good food, which has yet to be found in such establishments (though that's about to change, but I digress). If I didn't review restaurants, I would never go to a place that prioritizes one segment of the population over another. Most of these places shamelessly try to wrap themselves in patriotism, making non-"patriots" feel ashamed. It gives off the same vibe as any hollow act of virtue signaling.
The owner, Leshawn, works at the front counter. She is an exceptionally charming lady with excellent customer service skills. She deals with her patrons impeccably and is a true "people person." I asked Lovely Leshawn for a Cheesesteak with jalapenos and a Gyro burger. At this point, a toothless Titusvillian attempted to correct my proper pronunciation of Gyro (in Greek, the "G" is silent, so the word is pronounced as Yee-rrrrrro, with a rolled "r"), using the incorrect pronunciation of Gyro (as hero), and then proceeded to mock me for it. Leshawn, with the calmness of the eye of a hurricane, informed the misguided octogenarian that I did pronounce it correctly. Vindication is a beautiful feeling. Hey, I've been divorced a few times; it's not often that a woman admits I'm right.
Anyway, the Cheesesteak with jalapenos was outstanding. The bread was soft, the meat was tasty and seasoned with a decoction that instantly transported my taste buds to the City of Brotherly Love. The jalapenos added just enough kick to remind me that this was not your average Cheesesteak. Finding such flavorful and authentic food this far down the Eastern Seaboard was a delightful surprise.
As delightful as the Cheesesteak was on the palate, the Gyro burger fell completely and utterly flat. It was enjoyable, but lacked seasoning. The bun was soft and fresh, and the tomato and lettuce were fine. The meat was perfectly cooked, although it lacked the distinct Gyro flavor. It could have been the tzatziki sauce that was lacking, but I'm not sure.
Regardless, the Big Boy says, "This place is well worth a try. The food is well-prepared...
Read moreThis place is fantastic. From the moment you walk in, you are sure of one thing. They are happy to have you and want nothing more than for you to be completely satisfied. Every single person demonstrated that in everything they did during our stay.
We called on our way into Titusville expecting to take it to our VRBO to eat, but once we arrived, we wanted to stay and eat there. When we did arrive, the food was just coming out and it was hot and delicious. My youngest who is a cheeseburger connoisseur proclaimed it the best he's ever had. High praise and it kept coming for the rest of our order. A Honey BBQ Chicken Sandwich, A Brisket Sandwich, 2 Philly Cheesesteaks and a double order of wings temperature 7. Everything was very flavorful. Taking a breath from my own consumption to look over and ask my eldest son's gf how the chicken sandwich was, I could not finish my question without realizing that it must have been good, it was all gone!
I'm not from Philly, but love a cheesesteak and this one was traffic! I am however Buffalo born and raised and really loved their wings. big, crispy and delicious. They have a 1-10 scale on hotness. We chose 7 and the wings were out of sight. Very flavorful and yummy. Not just a knock off of a Franks and butter sauce or something with the intention of burning your face off without flavor, but they met the challenge of heat with flavor. Fantastic! They could sell their wings in Buffalo and not be out of place at all.
The owners were present and asked everyone at each table how things were. They were very sincere in their desire that we all be satisfied. I think it's easy to ask that question when you know your food is high level.

Read moreWe were recommended this place by someone we just met today while we were in Titusville. We are glad we stopped by. We were greeted by the young man behind the counter with a smile, friendly, and very out going personality. We placed our orders and his recommendations were to say the least very on target. We placed our order and then went to have a seat in a very clean well kept dining room.
While sitting there we met the owner and she showed us her attached market, deli and store. A veteran family owned operation, our favorite kind of place to spend our money. So the store and market were as clean as the dining room. We met the meat cutter, and her husband, friendly , retired Navy man. Which is where the theme for the establishment comes from. He offered to teach me how to cuss like a sailor. What wonderful pair of married people. We laughed and shared my memories of being a Publix manager and shared the history of the area where the store is located. Such a warm and welcoming place to visit.
Now back to the food which we went there for . It was 3 pm when we stopped to eat. a late lunch or early dinner. The food came in a timely manor and we were checked on several times during our dining experience. We ordered the brisket bbq sandwich with fries and cole slaw. We both agreed the sandwich was the best we had experienced in some time. Fries were great and self serve beverages on hand. We understand the chicken is really good too and the Philly Cheesesteak too. This placed called Heroes on South Street is a welcome business to this area of Titusville. It is between S Washington and Park Avenue. We will stop again and wish them the best can recommend happily this reasonably priced owner/operated mom and pop.
