We were lucky enough to get a table during their soft opening and I'm very glad that we did. This is a restaurant ran by people that run restaurants and I can't wait to see them find their stride.
I felt the drinks were well priced. They had a lot of local beers from Playalinda which is a plus. They also have cocktails and Bud Light and the like.
The decor is absolutely a love letter to pre-Disney Florida. That gets all the stars in my book, but that's not the only reason. If I was smart I would have taken some photos, but I was also with family, so there's that.
You won't find better service or servers. Period. The people working the hostess station were great, and I love the pre-waiting area they have. It's a smart move that doesn't take a ton of space but keeps the line moving.
Finally, the food. Overall, our table preferred the fried items over the non-fried ones. Does that mean the other items weren't as good? Absolutely not.
They see your Texas Roadhouse and Longhorn biscuits and raise you delicious, Chinese buffet-style pillows of goodness with what appears to be the baller move of a vanilla whipped butter with cinnamon, sugar, and I'm guessing a dash of pumpkin pie spice? Basically it'll take your churros's lunch money. I could eat those all day long.
One member of my group had the broiled crab cakes. Because it's a soft opening, things aren't 100% worked out, things happen, first fire got the Anakin Skywalker treatment. Second fire was great! That person prefers the traditional cracker crumbs and shallow fry method. That say, I had to try a bite and good Lord. Creamy, steamy, and dreamy my guys and gals. And as a huge plus, the coleslaw is good. I know that sounds dumb, but a good coleslaw is hard to nail. It was very fresh, not too liquid, and has a nice crunch.
The second person ordered the wood grilled shrimp. They didn't think it had quite enough seasoning, but here's my Devils Advocate: the shrimp was the best thing I had smelled all day. I don't know why they thought that, and I unfortunately didn't get a chance to try them. But from where I was sitting, they looked fantastic, so I can't dock points for that in good conscience. Dammit Jim, I'm an amateur food reviewer on Google, not a doctor!
Finally, my fish, which was obviously the best: the GD chicken tenders. Do not come for me. I will fight for these chicken tenders to the death. They have the crispiness of Huey Magoo's (which is the best fast food fried chicken in my book) but they are fresh and tender and flavorful. 10/10 no notes, KFC can go to hell and die.
The Native Sauce was visually confusing (we thought it had the same color as a nacho cheese sauce). But it definitely tastes right! They compared it to Chick-Fil-A sauce, which, it isn't a 1:1 comparison but it is in the ballpark. It's in the other team's dugout.
The fries were surprisingly good. Very light, not crispy, not heavy. Perfection.
Finally, the Orange Julius - tastes just like the original. Or if you're born after 1985, it tastes like a Flintstone's Push Pop. Plus, for an extra $4 they'll spike it, so what's not to love?
We are absolutely coming back. Thank you for a great opening and we'll see...
Read moreUpon entering the restaurant, we noticed a very sharp sour scent. The scent was so strong. We almost turned around and left, but decided to give it a shot since it is a new place in town. We had a wait time of about 10 minutes. My wife and I eat a vegan diet and we were excited that they offered a vegan Smashburger on the menu. But we were quickly disappointed to hear that everything is fried in beef tallow so our options for sides were limited to a plain baked potato or broccoli or a side salad. It’s disappointing to not eat french fries with your burger, especially when you were looking forward to it. I did, however, speak to the manager that was on duty about the sour smell, and he pretty much had an idea of where the smell was coming from. Overall, my wife and I agree that maybe if we have guests in town, we would go there because there are many different items on the menu for many different taste buds. Unfortunately, for us, we would just have the Smashburger with broccoli or a plain baked potato on the side instead of delicious french fries that everyone else loves to eat with their burgers.
UPDATE: Since I can’t reply to the owners response, I will simply add it here. The smell came from the wet/damp entry mat at the front door. The manager on duty explained to me that the soda machine in the lobby had a leak and apparently it got on the carpeted floor mats. Obviously the mats weren’t dried correctly and laid out on the floor again. It’s really hard to believe that no one else said anything about the overbearing sour smell upon entering the business. We literally almost walked out. About the margarine you offer, it seems like there needs to be a little more extensive training when it comes to your food servers then, because the margarine wasn’t even spoken about until I asked if there was butter on the broccoli. Also, just because there’s a ‘gluten free’ logo next to a meal, that doesn’t mean it is also vegan, which our server wasn’t aware of that either. To sum it up, clean the sour floor mats and train your food servers on the food they are selling to the customers. Take all this info to the other restaurants you own in town and implement them there as well. Advertising vegan food then falling short on every menu in every restaurant in town that you own, isn’t a good look in my opinion. You want the monopoly on all the restaurants in town, and yet they all sit at the mediocre level, step...
Read moreThe Native Bar & Grill in Titusville was an awesome dining experience — a must-visit for anyone who loves food, warm vibes, and great service.
We felt welcomed from the moment we walked in. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and enthusiasm, took the time to explain the menu when we had questions, and made excellent recommendations (Blackened Red Fish!). Every dish was a standout. The menu gives you that nostalgic, Florida-flavored charm (they’re even doing nostalgic Orange Julius stuff!) — but elevated. Fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and great presentation. My entree was cooked perfectly, and the sides were just as memorable. The portions were generous and everything tasted amazing.
The bar has a terrific selection of cocktails, local brews, and spirits. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. You feel like you’re dining in a place with character. Great background music, tasteful decor, and enough space so it doesn’t feel crowded.
Service was attentive without being overbearing. The servers checked in just often enough, refilled drinks promptly, and always had a friendly attitude.
For the quality, creativity, and experience, the prices are very fair. You leave feeling satisfied and not overcharged. If you’re in the Titusville area and craving something more than your typical dining spot, The Native Bar & Grill will blow you away. Highly...
