Ideal Hotdog — Restaurant in Toledo

I don't get here very often, even though I have been coming here since the 80's. The chili-mac, in my opinion, was the best in Toledo and may very well be today. Fast forward to my most recent visit: I was there and had a couple chili-dogs. They were a mere shadow of the chili-dogs of yester-year. My waitress was a sweetheart and asked if my food was good. I responded, it's ok. She did a great job and asked again, what was wrong. I told her I didn't want to complain, but showed her the chili-dogs and said there is not much there. She agreed and said she would take care of it. 5 min. later, she returned with a condiment cup of chili sauce. I thanked her, finished eating, and walked up to pay. Here is where the actual problem begins. The cash register jockey asked, how was everything? I responded, it was ok. He responded, why was it just ok? I said, it wasn't like the old days where your chili-dog was smothered in sauce. And before I could finish my comment, he rudely interrupted me, spoke over me, and told me he doesn't want to hear any crap about the old days. If he had respected me as his customer and listened to the 2nd half of my comment, he would have heard me compliment the food and say that I would gladly pay more to have the hotdogs dressed with a lot of chilisauce like the old days. But, he and register jockey #2 tag-teamed me. They tried to put me in my place by saying it was a mistake, and they rectified it. (a condiment cup you would put ketchup, or salad dressing in) Not once did they ask if I felt it was rectified. I tried one last time to tell them what I was originally going to say, but he very loudly said, "have a good day!" and turned his back to me. I responded, "smile a little". I gave my nice waitress her tip, thanked her, and walked out.

I just discovered Ideal Hotdog out Heatherdowns. Wish I would have found them earlier in my life. The service is outstanding! I’m always greeted soon as I walk in the door. I have to look at the posted menu because I am not yet familiar with their awesome food choices or their decent prices. They do not rush me or act annoyed because I don’t know what I want. The atmosphere is warm & friendly. There is plenty of seating choices if you want to social distance. The food I have ordered was delicious. Today, I got French toast with a sausage patty and scrambled eggs.The French toast and sausage patty was the best I’ve EVER had😊 My scrambled eggs were not ‘scrambled’ like I do at home and they are not in most restaurants that I have ordered them from. My food is always piping hot and I always leave with a smile because of the funny guys who work there. I definitely recommend that you try this family restaurant. I usually go to Ideal on Alexis Rd in Toledo Ohio which is awesome 5 stars. Went to this location with a friend for lunch. They use an Ipad to take order which makes process horrible with waitress getting frustrated & cutting us off from ordering because she couldn't navigate it, I get it technology can be difficult to deal with. Well she brings our drinks starts to walk away & remembers she didn't give straws & turns around & throws them up in the air without a care where they land. Gave a hard time when asking to put in togo order for someone else who wasn't there. I tipped her $10 which was very good for service recieved. Maybe she had a better day after that.
