First of all I want to say the staff and atmosphere are wonderful and nice and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. However there is something very wrong about not explaining to inexperienced people what kratom is and intentionally avoiding using the word when describing it as ājoyfulā āchillā etc. it is a very powerful herb that is potentially very habit forming. It has saved many people from illicit and opiate use and needs to be treated with great caution and respect an EXPLAINED to the inexperienced in great detail before giving to people let alone encouraging people to mix it with an entirely different substance(kava) at first use. I am BEGGING the staff at this establishment to treat these very powerful and sacred substances with more respect and caution because it WILL lead to dark things for them in the future to treat them as little more as a fun novelty. Many people are coming here feeling like these are healthy alternatives to alcohol but they are their own separate and special things that are truly nothing like alcohol at all and can have different effects on different people. It is a friendly colorful and inviting place and I would love to return as I have alot of love for both substances but I canāt feel right about it unless I know kratom is being explained fully by someone with a lot of experience with it. It is an extremely powerful naturally occurring opioid with many of the same side effects including addiction that can happen quickly if not taken with prior knowledge. I had to read far down their drink menu to even see the word kratom being used in small letters and our bartender (who was lovely) never used the word once. They are described as āgreen strain, white strainā etc which if you donāt already know what kratom is leads you to believe you are consuming a different kind of kava if you are just casually coming here with no prior knowledge of either of these substances. PLEASE do the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLoved this place, loved the staff, loved using reward points loved the atmosphere & never had a bad experience until I went in Monday 7/21 around 630p and wasnāt acknowledged at all, the energy was off bar staff that Iāve had great convos with previously avoided making eye contact with me, another woman that looked like me was waiting ahead of me walked out without being served. I assumed something crazy mustāve just happened before I arrived so I ignored all of that and loudly said HEY to 1 of the 3 bartenders that was aimlessly about to pass me again, even though 2/3 of them werenāt helping anyone else. He didnāt say anything just smiled and stopped in front of me. I ordered my usual didnāt feel comfortable opening a tab this time so I paid left a tip, sat down opened my lap top and then I started noticing how a few more guest came in and every time EVERY employee was loudly welcoming them to kava, bartenders approaching them immediately to take their order and then it happenedā¦.someone that looked like me walked in and staff didnāt say anything, no welcome to kava nothing, it was complete silence. I packed up and left with my feelings hurt, pissed off and sick to my stomach. The actions of the staff felt forced, retaliatory and out of character from my previous...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe just had to drive from Detroit to check out this new āSober Barā in Toledo. We loved it so much we went back again! Totally worth the drive. Such a friendly and welcoming place. Everyone is so just happy (must be the Kava). So many hang out spots in the same bar. Each area is a different vibe, feels like your bar hopping! We tried a few different seats but loved sitting at the bar the most. Make sure you check out the bathrooms! Each touch on the decor makes it even more special.
Drinks are amazing. So many options, almost overwhelming, but the Kavatenders are knowledgeable and are on spot for helping you make a selection. I like the āGreenā Vein drinks, Iām trying different flavors each time. My husband likes the Delta Lemonpound cake the best. Bula shots bring the place together. We picked up a couple growlers and had them filled and grabbed a couple packs of the Cat 5 cans to enjoy at home.
One of the nights we were there a food truck was set up and they had a live local band. They have a pool table, shuffleboard, games and just so many things to look at! Happy Vibes!
