A Laz-z-boy is the best by far when it comes to recliners. They are the most comfortable, best quality, and have a lifetime warranty. One of my recliners is 20 years old and is still great! I will not but another brand recliner. I recently needed to replace my old chair. It literally died and of course, it had to be during the Pandemic. I was upset I'd have to go to Toledo, OH to the Gallery because of this fact, my health is not good. The salesperson worked with me and let me come in the store 1 hour early. I am very grateful for that, as I decided to take the risk and go.
I am a short, and lets say fluffy lady. Lazy-z-boy does not seems to make a recliner that has a wider seat bed, yet designed for a short person. The largest I could find in the store was one with a 21 inch seat bed. I do not like having to feel the sides of my recliner. The sales person did say that their stock is down. However, with that being said there was only 1 rocker recliner for my height that had a 21" seat bed. All the others were 20" inches and less. That will have to be good enough, as I bought it. It is the the James Rocker.
I think I got a fair price. I will have to wait about 4 weeks for delivery because of low stock in their inventory. I am very dissapointed they have a zero return policy. If you don't like your recliner, your stuck with it. The sales person said it was because of the Pandemic. I think that is a poor excuse. If they think somehow you contaminated it, all they have to do is let it sit for a few days. This is one of my biggest dissapintments with the Laz-z-boy Company. If you are willing to pay a restocking fee, they why not give a person a week to decide? During non Pandemic times, your only give about 3 days to return it.
I also had a very bad experience with the chair I was replacing. I had it home for only a few days from the Gallery and it started to pill. I called them and they said I could not return it. To my way of thinking that is a defect in material. They do not believe so. That chair pilled so bad over time that large holes developed in the fabric. I've had several other chairs and they never pilled. The fabric was wonderful in them. I asked a sales person at Art Van Furniture several years ago why that chair could have pilled. He immediately said it probably had Olefin in it. He said he had bought a sofa with Olefin in it and it had the same problem. However, the store he purchased it from was nice, let him return it.
I asked the salesman at the store when ready to buy my new chair, if he could compensate me even a little for my bad experience with my old chair. I told him about Olefin. He denied that it could be Olefin and said he's seen other fabrics that could pill also like cotton. He went away for a moment, then came back. I asked him then what other fabrics could pill, and he wouldn't tell me. I don't think he wanted to admit any Lay-z-boy chairs pill. Maybe most of them don't, but I know if they have Olefin in them they will. The one I got is polyester, I think that will be much better. I've been really happy with my other chairs fabrics.
I guess what upset me is the way he out right denied my claim and evidence. He even said the salesman from Art Van didn't know what he was talking about. If he would have just said, I'm so sorry for your experience but I can't compensate you, I would have felt much better. I would refrence his name, but he was willing to come in early to work and let me in the store. I really appreciated that.
Lay-z-boys, are the most amazing recliners. They make my problems with Arthritis and Fibre Myalgia easier to cope with. I've had them repaired after several years of use, and you only have to pay labor charges. They are also made in the U.S.A. However, the purchasing experience has been a bit rockey for me. Just be sure your in love with a piece of their furniture...
Read moreI picked up my new Lazyboy Vail rocker recliner on Saturday the July 9th. When I got it home, the back wouldn't lock in. I took the back to the store and they said they always tell people to just use it without locking it in. If not needed, why put it on the chair! I was told I'd need to go through the Lazyboy Comfort Care to get it fixed. On Monday the 11th, I was on hold with Comfort Care for over 3 hours. Finally on Tueday the 12th, I spoke with a very nice young man, Eric, who set up an appointment for me with the 2nd party service company Lazyboy uses in the Toledo area. However, the first available appointment isn't until August 31st. I have 3 purchased Lazyboy rocker recliners in the past and never had need for service. I loved them which is why I chose Lazyboy again. If you want a good chair, I recommend them. If you live in the Toledo area and don't want a service company that requires long waits to set up appointments and then long waits for the appointment, I would go somewhere else.
I've edited my review from 1 to 3. Please read below to see why. After this posted, received a call from Matt, the sales management director for the franchise that owns this Lazyboy. He agreed that the wait time was unacceptable and shared that he has been talkingto Lazyboy about this issue-I guess I'm not the first! He also offered to stop by and fix the problem. This is what I call GREAT...
Read moreI needed a new recliner for an upcoming surgery. My first salesperson was Ron and he was very knowledgeable and helpful..I needed to “shop around”. A couple days later and I stopped back to the store and Ron was off and I had Candy as my salesperson.she also was knowledgeable and patient. I was there debating about 2 different chairs, for a good hour or more. Decided on my chair, but most likely would not have it in time for my surgery. After checking with her manager, they took exception to their selling a floor chair, so I could be set for my surgery
Candy made sure that Ron also got credit for the sale. That’s a professional.
My husband picked it up and brought it home. The remote stopped working, so I called the store 5 minutes before closing. I explained my dilemma and the sales person connected me with Jeremiah, a tech. He tried helping me over the phone to reset the remote. I attempted to follow directions, unplug, take out batteries etc.. we tried a few times no luck..This young man, offered to stop by my house to do this on his way home.
Jeremiah came in, did his thing and had to try a few times. Perplexed, he checked the power strip and in my attempts of resetting, I apparently turned off power strip. We had a great laugh and he left..
ABOVE AND BEYOND..I’m very impressed with these outstanding people. Keep up...
