I honestly don't even know where to begin. I've been such a fan of this place for so many years. this place started as the only brunch and bloody Mary bar on Sunday. but it's expanded to a place I've brought my family to. my son loves burgers, and he really wanted one of their burgers for his birthday. We made a reservation, invited family from near and far to celebrate with us. The disappointment I feel from tonight is overwhelming. 730p reservation, ok we weren't seated right away. Seated shortly after 8, Ok 40 minute wait for reservation, ok. I understand. We were ready to order quite quickly, I mean we had been waiting for quite some time. Drinks ordered at table, they waited and waited at the bar. drinks dripping sweat- some from my table actually went to the bar to retrieve their drinks. A couple of us ordered appetizers while ordering entrees- because again we knew what we wanted at this point. We waited and waited, soup and salad was received for a couple of recipients, no silverware. No appetizers. Again, I'm patient. I'm understanding. But as the place cleared out and multiple parties were seated and served and leaving before we even had gotten our food my irritation started to build. Yes, we were a party of 12, Yes we had made a reservation days ahead. But here we were at 10pm just being served our dinner, slowly ONE AT A TIME. still no appetizer in site. we're finally all served and the bills come out. Mind you the staff knew the service for this party was very subpar, it is literally not unknown. we've been here since 715, it's after 10p..... very obvious this is NOT great situation. Gratuity is automatically added on a party this size, again that's expected- although I am completely able of tipping myself-I understand this. But the service charge to pay my bill. Absolutely not. I am not going to pay a charge to pay this bill for utterly subpar service. The waiter got the manager, who then proceeded to scream at me and try to belittle me. Her voice was raised so loudly that my daughter in law heard her from the bathroom. She tried to belittle me that I was cheap and threw in an Oh really happy birthday to you to my son. Super rude, very condescending, and why? Why exactly? because I had a 140 dollar bill and didn't want to pay 4 dollars to pay it. They threw in gas stations charging fees, yes most do for charges under 10 dollars. No, not all companies on Adams Street charge these charges. it is absolutely obscene that I am going to pay you to pay yourselves after the absolute train wreck of service we've received. The type of treatment received from the "manager" was enough to upset most of my family, because how would you feel if your mother was being yelled at and belittled in front of you?? Another waitress then tried to come and settle things down, and she was well received but after the multiple failures of the evening with the absolute rudeness and disrespect from again "the manager" the damage was already done. I honestly don't know if any of us will be back. it saddens me after so many years spent in this establishment that Zack sat their absorbing it all afterwards smoking a cig on the sidewalk. this establishment is better than what it was tonight. I'm really disappointed that I introduced a place so close to my heart to my children and this was the service...
Read moreIF I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD!!! I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO RUDELY!!! The manager made it clear that she nor her father (THE OWNER) cared!!! We had visited this location a few weeks before and had an AWESOME experience in the evening. So we decided to make a reservation for Valentines Day. We called a week before for a reservation for 2 ppl at 11:00 am for Sunday Brunch; we called back Thursday, 2.11 to add 2 more to our reservation and confirm. All was good. We arrived on time and were seated, drink order taken, and directed to the buffet. Still good. Upon returning to our table we were meant by a woman (later identified as the manager and daughter of the owner) who accused us of taking someone else's reservation and asked to see my husband's ID to verify his name was actually Thomas. Meanwhile pointing out the only reservation they had for "Thomas C." was for the white couple currently being seated. Her demeanor was rude; she never explained there may have been a mistake on their end, instead she accused us of lying because the phone number didn’t match...no one asked for our phone number upon arrival. But said go ahead and "enjoy your meal" with a snicker/snarl! I tried to talk to her explaining that I was disappointed in her service and even more so because I drove so far and recommended this place only to receive horrible service...she cut me off, and kept telling me to enjoy the day. I asked if the owner would be available during the week she said "He's my dad. Want to talk to him now?" Of course I did! She left to get him and came back immediately and said "Enjoy your Valentines Day, he left." Needless to say, we left! I have never been so disrespected and dismissed by the owners of a business! I am so very hurt and angry!! I can't enjoy my day as we are currently looking for a place to...
Read moreManhattan's Pub 'n Cheer has always been a great cultural restaurant Toledo. Some of my fondest memory has been seeing live performances at their establishment in my early 20s, back around 2007 to 2008.
The atmosphere and location are fine. The problem I had was the cost of their large platters, and honestly, my complaint is a little contrite. I ordered the fettuccini Alfredo with a salmon and while the food was fine, (I do not know how anyone could mess up fettuccini), the problem was the cost!
Naturally, this was in August and salmon is probably out of season. The error I made was ordering an Italian and French dish for dinner from a local pub when what looked more appetizing was their far more gracious and affordable sandwiches!
The error is on my own--this was a Thursday in the late afternoon, and downtown Toledo is notorious for its lack of higher quality restaurants during the afterhours. The r Docks is the place to go for more established restaurant fare, regretfully.
However, I will return for lunch, and order one of their sandwiches. My rating is more a reflection on my own part, and maybe my gripe with city developers who while valiant in their attempts to revitalize the downtown area, need to encourage more entertainment and dining post Covid. Uber Eats and DoorDash may have killed the dining experience for many zoomers and alphas, but plenty of us millennials and slackers still like to enjoy going out and being entertained in apleasant atmosphere.
Otherwise the Steff was friendly and the food acceptable. I would still recommend their sandwiches and lunch specials and encourage patrons to have a drink as well. They are one of the few places in the inner city that is willing to host live entertainment, and those efforts should...
