I ordered takeout from Sweet Havana. It was easy to order online, but I did not like that the menu tells you absolutely nothing other than the name of the item. I kept it simple: 3 cuban sandwiches and an appetizer. The cost was nearly $60, which was pricey.
Online ordering was easy, but I did not like that I couldn’t schedule my takeout for anything other than 15 minutes from the time of order. Be advised of that if you order takeout online. Also be advised they ask for your billing address, as well, when you pay online. Not crazy about that. I’m coming to pick it up. You don’t need my address.
I arrived 15 minutes later to pick up my order, and it took an extra 10 minutes to come out. There’s nowhere to sit, so you are basically forced to stand in the doorway continuously moving for customers as they enter and leave. Definitely not a positive experience on that front.
Onto the food. My appetizer, the croquetas, were nearly $9 and you receive 5 thumb sized poppers. They were tasty. But way overpriced for the portion you receive.
The cuban sandwiches were very good. Tender meat, pressed cuban bread. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy in the middle. Would recommend this item for sure. I guess if you are a cuban restaurant and can’t make a cuban sandwich, you need to rethink everything. But this was good. For $15 per sandwich, you receive fries and copious dipping cups. I don’t know what they are called, unfortunately. One was red and had a bit of spice. I enjoyed adding it to my sandwich for extra heat. The other was a creamy white sauce with green veg, and tasted refreshing with the fries.
I don’t know whether I would order again. It was pricey for what you get. And while the sandwich was good, the online ordering system and the follow through in the restaurant leaves much...

I ordered tacos from the lunch menu (1 ropes veija, 1 roasted pork, which can only be described as over-stuffed -- easily a quarter pound of meat in each). I asked for all the toppings on a side dish, which they were happy to do – I'm a bit particular about topping my tacos. The tacos came with rice and black beans (I don't generally even like rice, but this was so good I ate it all). I topped off my meal with flan (hands down the best I've had anywhere, although I ended up taking it home because the meal was just so filling. The flavor and quality of everything was absolute perfection, the wait staff were friendly and attentive, and the decor is stunning. There are no TV screens blaring news or sports – – instead, videos of Cuba, and Cuban music. I wanted to meet the owner (Oscar), who happy to sit at my table for a few minutes and chat about food, Cuba, and more.
I guess my only question is, is there a spare room in the back where I could put a bed and just sleep here...
Read moreMy wife and I have been going to Miami the last few years for mini vacations. We love the food and the people there are all also very nice. We may be able to save airfare from now on and just go to Sweet Havana restaurant. We both ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was awesome! Just as good as, if not better than, any that we ever had in Miami or Little Havana. I ordered a side of sweet plantains, which I developed a love for on our trips, and again just as good as or better than what you get in Miami. We shared a piece of Tres Leches cake for desert and it was huge and the taste, you guessed it, delicious. I mentioned that we like the people in Miami and the staff at Sweet Havana are just as nice. Excellent service and we had a few of them come to our table to make sure everything was good and we were satisfied. We had a feeling that this place might be awesome when we walked in at 6:30pm on a Sunday and it was pretty full of customers. We can't wait to go back and try...
