Unfair Offers & Unprofessional Behavior
I’ve been to this store three times to sell items, and after my last visit, I won’t be back. I resell on eBay, so I know the market value of what I bring in. First visit: I sold them some cassette tapes—no issues. The guy that bought them was respectful and fair.
Second visit: I brought in some signed CDs, a signed vinyl record, a Bluetooth speaker, and a few sealed vinyl. The offer for the CDs was way too low, so I took them back, but I accepted the deal for a speaker and vinyl. Again, no problems—I took what I was comfortable with and left.
Third visit: I brought in brand-new vinyl records worth $476 retail. I was offered $140 cash or $200 store credit, which was far too low, so I simply declined and left. (I’m fully aware I’m not going to get retail value - they need to make money as well. I was expecting an offer around $170-$180 based of previous experiences.)
Fast forward a few days, and my friend went in to sell records—only to be told that I apparently “gave the manager a hard time.” That’s completely untrue. I was polite but firm in my decision, yet now they won’t buy from me or my friend. Clearly, someone took my refusal personally.
Their loss. I still have 68 more records to sell, and I’ll take my business elsewhere. I’m shutting down my eBay store to focus on my cleaning company, but I definitely won’t be recommending this place. If you’re looking to sell, be prepared for lowball offers and unprofessional behavior.
Response to Allied Record Exchange reply to my review:
It’s disappointing to see such an unprofessional response to my honest review. I simply shared my experience regarding the offers I received and the way I was treated as a customer. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, your response resorted to personal attacks and unnecessary comments about my friend.
A business that values customer feedback should be able to respond respectfully without belittling or deflecting. My review was based on my experience, and potential customers can decide for themselves if this is the kind of interaction they want when doing business.
I stand by my review and hope in the future, you choose to handle feedback with professionalism rather than personal insults.
Also, will add screenshots of my past purchases. Proving they all didn’t come from Walmart.
Either way, as a business owner myself, I would never resort to belittling a client who left me a bad review. I would look for ways to improve. Good luck...
Read moreTheir music prices are good, but I would seriously question the quality of the equipment they sell. I visited the store over fall break and bought a Minidisc player. I noticed the disc was skipping during the second half, so I opened it up and found that the previous owner had forced long wood screws into the feet causing damage to the circuit board, and there were visible spider webs inside the player.
When I returned to Toledo for Thanksgiving break, they offered to repair it for free. I offered to leave a Minidisc with them for testing purposes, but they declined. Months passed with no updates. I called once or twice, but there was never any news. Eventually, they told me they didn’t have a Minidisc to test it with.
If they didn’t have a Minidisc to test the repairs, did they even have one to test if it was working in the first place? Im guessing it light up when plugged in and that was enough.
Since this had been going on for nearly a year, they offered to refund me with store credit. I exchanged it for a stereographic equalizer, but despite finding a copy of the original manual, I couldn’t get the graphic display to work. Everything else functioned, but it refused to show the levels...
Read moreTerrible. Don’t go here. Don’t buy or sell here. I walked around their store to see similar items I had and what their prices were, then I went to sell some items of mine and they offered next to nothing yet they have similar items listed for very expensive. They want everything you sell to them in brand-new condition then they offer you pennies and then they price it for more expensive than other stores. They are very rude to you they’ll act like a tiny imperfection on something means it’s worth nothing and needs to be thrown away. Their prices are ridiculously high. There are 3 better options to go to, Flotsam, eBay, Facebook.
EDIT to reply to business. Actually it’s not the exact same review, just similar as it was a similar experience. And no my items were great actually, I went to Flotsam and the guy was super nice and he gave me a very fair price and I bought some items he had for sale as his prices are very fair too. His store is clean and full of customers. It seems to be not an issue with customers items… but it seems to be an issue with Allied and Replay as many other customers say the same issues with their experiences. My items were all in...
