Donuts & Kolaches — Restaurant in Tomball

I was really excited to try this place.... being new to the area and all. I got a few kolaches and the bacon egg croissants and donuts. When I came home, I kept smelling a peculiar smell in the bag. I thought it was just the way the paper bags they put the food in smelled. I heated the food in the microwave. Still smelled it. When I finally sat down to eat with my coffee and took a bite..... that was it! The bread.... it permeated a scent that you would smell at "ol granny's" house. Like, a warehouse'y, outdated, ol granny perfume almost. I can't describe it in words. It was terrible!! I felt so bad that I threw all that food away! I couldn't even get passed 1 bite. Although the regular glazed donuts were really soft and good.... I couldn't finish it after having ate the 1 bite of the croissant sandwich. It ruined my taste buds to finish that donut. This place is run by the nicest family, headed by "Mama" the matriarch. There's a group of older gentlemen that socialize there every morning. I come in and start my day off with hugs and hellos from everyone. The atmosphere is really one of family. And on top of that, the donuts are really top notch. Barney, their baker, is excellent. My favorites are: blueberry cake donuts (so good!), apple fritters (the best I've had). The absolute best is the plain cake donut. I know that seems boring but I love it with a cup of coffee. Not too sweet, just right. All the kolaches are great but my favorite is the spicy boudain kolache. So good. So filling. Everything in there is delicious and the people are the best. HANDS DOWN TO THE BEST BAKERY IN TOWN! Every visit feels like stepping into comfort itself. The kolaches are unbelievably fresh, soft, and flavorful, and the donuts taste like they were made seconds ago, light, warm, and perfectly sweet. You can tell everything is made with care and pride. The staff is always friendly, the place smells like heaven, and the quality never misses. And the prices? Cheap as hell for how good everything is.
