I have been to this location multiple times since it’s opened and have always enjoyed the food and beer selection but the service has been the biggest let down overall. We recently visited the location this past weekend for dinner and we were three different groups that asked to sit at the “communal” center table but we asked to be three different groups since we were all paying for ourselves. The hostess said no problem at all and just let your waitress know. The waitress came over and we explained that we were three separate groups that require separate tickets and are not together. The waitress said sure, no problem and took our order. They were fairly busy and service wasn’t great, we sat for 10 minutes at the table before anyone came over to introduce themselves and minimal interaction throughout the time we were there. The waitress brought the bill over with a “mandatory” gratuity of 20% because we were a large party of 10 or more people. I spoke to her and explained that we’re not together, we asked to be treated as separate tickets and you said “no problem”. She went to speak to her manager and the manger so we came in together and “knew” each other so that’s a large party. I explained the conversation with the hostess and that there were multiple families (small town) that we knew that we were all eating at the same time and there were 4-5 families sitting at the “communal” table so you policy (clearly stated on the menu) seems convoluted in order to appease what ever situation suits you. She denied my request again and I told the waitress I would have given 25% if she would of handled the situation better and not forced the issue just because I understand the business. Poorly handled, manager never came over to discuss with us and hung the waitress out to dry and terrible way to treat your local customers. I will not be returning anymore after this...
Read moreUsed to visit this establishment frequently, moved from area, and haven't been back in a hot minute. Visited recently with friends and was not impressed. Menu has changed, which is disappointing, prices are way up, there's a $3 charge to split already pricy food. That's kind of annoying. I feel if prices were more reasonable, the public would be more inclined to order their own dish. We ordered an appetizer and three different entrees. Everything was so incredibly salty we could barely eat. I mean everything! Our waitress, though very nice, was not great. She seemed annoyed by our presence when we were ordering.. We were kind of indecisive, that's on us, but she didn't really have any ideas or suggestions, just stood there staring blankly. We were going to do a few flights of beers, but her attitude kind of dampened our night. It took a very long time to get our food, which the place was not busy at all, and was served our app at the same time as dinner..... Not only was the food incredibly salty, but we had nothing to wash it down with. She never refilled our drinks once, we would have asked, but after bringing our food she completely dissappear the remainder of the meal until she brought our check. The other staff sat by the front door talking, laughing, and holding chairs down. We noticed quite a few other people waiting and getting quite impatient due to the lack of initiative in the servers. Needless to say, I, nor my friends will be returning. Sad to see such great places go downhill in a short time. I used to recommend this place to lots of out of towners, but I think I'll be crossing it off the list. !Another one...
Read moreI drive an hour to eat and drink here! Myself and my family LOVE Fire Ant. There is no other Brewery like it in Tomball, Magnolia, or Spring. I love walking up to their sprawling covered patio that makes you feel like you are in the hip downtown areas of Houston. We are always seated quickly, and can even catch an Astros game on the many TV's. Their beer menu is HUGE and because of their flight options I have tried almost every beer there now. The "Working Ant Porter" is my current favorite at a great price. Now let's talk service - The owners, Bruce and his wife Sylvia ALWAYS come to our table and ask about the food, chit chat, and are just the nicest people. You can tell they truly care about customers and only put their best foot forward. They are very open to constructive criticism also which is rare for business owners. They have also started offering fun trivia nights on the weekdays and live music. Lastly (my favorite part) the AMAZING FOOD!!!!! The chef here is so creative. Steak night specials, pimento cheeseburgers, locally sourced meat boards, gigantic tasty salads, are just to name a few of my favorites. I keep coming back because I want to try everything on their menu, it is truly that great! The chef creates options for every diet that are a foodies dream come true. I always look forward to coming back to Fire Ant. Side note - Lot's of ample parking, clean restrooms, and I think they are dog...
