I'm very disappointed, I saw this was under new management and was looking forward to trying it out. I love Mexican food, but this was far from appealing. Walking in the atmosphere was dead quiet like a ghost town you could hear everyone's conversations there was no music or ambiance, I mean the decorations were nice, but that's about it. The staff seemed impatient and not very welcoming almost like it was upsetting for us to be there. When we sat down it took them several minutes to go get a highchair for my child. I asked for a water with lemons, and they brought me just a water. I asked once again for some lemons and a water for my daughter since they left before we could tell her my daughter's drink order. They once again came back and dropped off the kids water, but forgot my lemons. I asked someone else a third time before finally someone brought me some. They also told us that they didn't really have a kids menu because they were under new management, but it's been over a month since "new management took over" I've worked restaurant business all my life that seems a bit ridiculous. The waitresses walked by multiple times ignoring the direct eye contact that I kept trying to make with them to indicate we had been ready to order for a good 10minutes. Finally I called the lady over, after trying to get her attention multiple times and told her we were ready to order. It wasn't that busy maybe two other tables and at least two servers were working so again ridiculous. My fiance ordered a burger because he's not much into the Mexican food like I am. We got chicken nuggets for our daughter and I got a combo 18 that was a tamale, an enchilada, and a taco. If I didn't notice at the last minute that I had to pick the stuffing for my enchilada and taco the waitress never would of asked and I have no idea what I would of got at that point. The food came, the kids plate of chicken nuggets had 4 tiny nuggets on top of two pieces of toast and a bunch of fries with a small corner of shredded lettuce and tomatoes. My food was lukewarm at best, sure the plate was hot, but not so much the food. Everything was bland and flavorless. Not what you expect from Mexican food. The only thing that really had flavor was my beef taco, and that was from the grease. Now I like my salt, but not even salt could save the food from tasting like nothing. Needless to say I could not bear to finish the rest of my plate. I only ate half because I'm pregnant and if I don't feed this baby I'll have other issues on my plate. His burger was bland with no flavor as well. We were done disappointed and ready to go, oh I forgot to mention the silverware that we were given after asking for it several times was dirty and obvious food residue left on it. The manager stopped by the table and asked how everything was, we listed our concerns and tried to be really polite about it, but all he gave were excuses. I had had enough and just shook my head and told him we were ready for the check. He said he would go get it and then never came back. The table that was sat after us and directly behind us got there check before we did. The waitresses continued to walk back and forth not once asking us if we needed anything and avoiding me trying to get there attention once again. Finally I stopped the lady from cleaning the table behind us and said can we get the check please? She was like oh yeah and took several more minutes to come back with a handwritten paper with the original numbers written in black with some corrections of higher prices made in red. I wish I took a picture of it then but I had lost my patience. We paid $32ish for a meal that was not worth it in the slightest. I could of gotten better at taco bell for that price. She sure watched closely when it was time to pay and stopped what she was doing to come take our money and that was the only time she was quick. The handwritten paper gone and just a regular receipt left with no itemized copy. The manager didn't once offer to make things right in anyway, just had excuses and that was it....
Read moreThe wife and I had the fajitas mixed beef and chicken for two. $33.00 dang good value for the quality and quanity. Kids had other meals. The food wait time was appropriate. They started off with only one basket of chips, but soon realized we were chip eaters and had three baskets on the table. The cheese dip was basic cheese dip, but guess what... that's what my kids like 👍. Food portions were good. We had enough between my wife and I to take home a small lunch size portion for one. My daughter had enough of her meal to take home for her lunch tomorrow. My son's finished their plates, but we're full. We had a couple of beers as well. Cost for a family of 5 with a couple of alcohol drinks after tip $125.00. That's a tad bit high but not off kilter for what I expected. Will I eat here again? Yes. Will I tell others to eat here? Yes. Beef or chicken? Beef, but I wouldn't shy away from the chicken.
For the owners, how to increase sales. Teach your waitress to upsale items. She started off by asking what can I get you to drink? That sounds ok, but it leaves the customer to decide with zero influence from the restaurant. Try instead. Can I start you off with one of our signature watermelon margaritas? The watermelon margaritas or you choose the bar drink does two things. 1 it makes more money than soda. 2 it starts the table off drinking alcohol. Tables that drink alcohol spend more money on more alcohol as well as spend more on food. Waitress should always assume that everyone wants an appetizer. Don't ask what appetizer the table wants. She should suggest the one based on how she reads the table. Kids love cheese dip. Bacon wrapped shrimp for adults. Nachos for a crowd. "How about we start you off with some nachos this evening?" Waitress shakes her head up and down while making the suggestion. Most people are agreeable by nature, so if you're saying yes, they are saying yes. Make the table tell you no. She should smile. She is happy to be here, she is happy you're here, Drinks never go empty. If my beer is running low, don't ask me if I want another beer. Say, let me get you another beer. While shaking your head up and down. Again, make the table tell you no. When the table is 80 percent finished, not full, not ready to leave, that is when you come in with the desert offering. "A round of ice cream to finish the night?" Again, make them tell you no. Then, after the final offering is when the check comes out. This is where management and staff can guarantee return customers. If you had the customer who refused to say no to anything and you upsold easily, then the manager OKs the free appetizer or takes off the kids' meal. The manager should check on the table right after the check is laid down. Introduce yourself, tell them how much you appreciate them coming in, and hit them with that discount. Make the customer feel special. "I bet they don't give everyone a discount." After they pay, and are walking out, make an effort to say their name one more time as you tell them bye. "Have a good evening, Billy Bob, see you next time." Customers love the sound of their own name. Make them feel important. Also, it...
Read moreIf you do not read this review, you are uninformed. The old reviews do not apply. This is a new owner, and he has gone to great lengths to improve the food, drinks and service. He personally came to our table and talked to us about the food, drinks and Tomball as a community. He loves this community, and that is why he purchased this business in 2023.
So they had homemade pina coladas on sale today, and they were probably the best I've had in Texas. I have had frozen drinks in Key West, Florida, and those were the best I've ever had. These were very close to those and very obvious they were indeed homemade. The ice was not crunchy and was completely smooth. If you really enjoy frozen drinks, you know what I am talking about. Also the mix was perfect tasting. It's refreshing to get a good frozen drink that is something other than a margarita as every Mexican restaurant in Texas specializes in Margaritas.
Next on to the queso. The cheese was thick and creamy. It wasn't runny at all. Many restaurants cut the queso with milk to increase their profit margins, and make it seem like more queso, but not here. This is a nice, perfectly thick queso.
Next we ordered the beef fajitas, and once again the food was cooked to perfection. The fajita meat tasted like a higher grade of meat, like maybe "choice" or "prime". The fat content was perfect. If you know anything about meat, you know that fat content is key to making moist, rich meat. This was spot on.
The beef fajita also wasn't over cooked or under cooked. Just perfect. The seasoning was also perfect.
The tortillas were also very good. I would rate them better than average for sure.
The service was excellent. The waitress was very knowledgeable when we had questions and she knew the answers to those questions.
The interior was clean, and my wife used the restroom and said it was very clean and smelled good.
I have always been a Mexican food enthusiast, and to be honest, this is probably my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Tomball! Please, you owe it to yourself to give this new owner and staff a shot as you will be missing out on a hidden gem!
We will...
