In town for the kid's twirling competition and needed a dinner spot for the kids and parents to eat afterwards. This place had pretty good reviews, looked very clean from the pics, and had Mole Enchiladas (which I love!), so we gave it a shot. So in regards to the categories above:
Food: The food was delicious! I got Mole Enchiladas, which not a lot of places seem to do any more. The mole had a great flavor and consistency, which made for good chicken enchiladas. Rice and beans on the side were both done well, and the beans weren't soupy like some places seem to do. My wife got beef/chicken fajitas. Portion size was good, meat was nice and tender, and it appeared to be good quality meat (not fatty or anything like that).
Also, drinks were good. I asked the waitress what margarita she recommended and went with that. It wasn't huge like I expected based on the menu description, but they made up for it by making it plenty strong. I definitely felt I got my money's worth (not sure I felt much else by the time I hit the bottom 🤣)! A couple of the kids got virgin daiquiris, and one parent got a full octane one, all three were quite happy!
Service: The service was great from start to finish, they were friendly and very attentive. Drinks were always topped off, chip basket refilled, drinks brought out quickly, no complaints.
Atmosphere: The restaurant was very very clean, both in the dining area and the waiting area. I also really appreciated that it wasn't loud! They had some music going, and football or something on the TVs, but neither was really loud. It was nice being able to actually hear what my friends were saying with ease, rather than trying to hear and talk over the noise. Volume levels were just right.
A nice couple in the waiting area said they'd been coming into town to eat here for years, and I can see why. I have zero complaints about this place. If/when we're ever back in Tomball, we will...
Read moreI had a doctor appointment close by, and used it as an excuse to try out a new restaurant.
Someone in the doctors office mentioned Martha's Mexican and said that they really enjoyed it, and so I took the strangers word for it, and came here.
Maybe I came at a odd time, but there was literally nobody there besides me. They sat me down and brought out unsweet tea, which I asked for, but the sweet tea literally tastes like nothing. Even unsweet tea has a tea flavor and when I added my splenda, it still just tastes like sugar water.
They really didn't have many vegetarian options, it would be nice to have a couple of more vegetarian options or seafood options, so I just got the cheese enchiladas.
They do bring out chips and salsa, which is a plus, and I added a side of queso to it, which was really good as well.
I asked for one enchilada to have ranchero sauce, and two sour cream sauce on my enchiladas, but there was a confusion and the waitress only brought out sour cream sauce on the enchiladas well, so she brought a side of the ranchero sauce, but I actually preferred the white sauce with it.
They did come and check out up on me a couple of times so I appreciate that. I made sure to tip them well, but I don't think I'll be coming back. Nothing really stood out to me and although I did like the queso, it still leaves something to be desired.
I did like how they had their stamp on the the bags and to go boxes. Little things like that make...
Read moreDinner and margaritas at Martha's Mexican Restaurant and Grill tonight. I couldn't decide between my two favorites, Shrimp Brochettes or the monday special (cheese enchiladas with beef fajitas on top). We decided to get both and my wife and I split. The shrimp brochettes here are a thing of beauty and perfection. I don't know what Chef Wilmer seasons and grills these in, but whatever it is, it is addicting.
The cheese enchiladas are served pipping hot, and topped with beef fajitas makes it phenomenal. Served with very flavorful charro beans or refried, guacamole, pico de gallo, rice, w/ tortillas on request. Who can resist homemade flour tortillas.
I also got my go to jumbo 1/2 Frozen 1/2 not house margarita, folowed by a small frozen mango margarita. My wife got a Paloma and Michelada. Great margaritas and cocktails here.
Dessert was the new Cheesecake Chimichanga, which is outstanding! Crispy deep fried cinnamon sugar shell with delicious cheescake filling. We have had a version of this at quite a few places, but what is different about Martha's version, the filling is still cold and a has a fantastic texture. (many other restaurants serve you a hot gooey mess). Martha's is the most perfect cheescake Chimichanga we have found, I don't think it is officially on the menu but you can ask for it.
What a great friday night!...
