Golden Dragon Kitchen — Restaurant in Toms River

This was my very first time ordering at this location, and it will be the very last.

My order, I felt, was fairly simple. A vegetable egg roll and General Tsos chicken with white meat only.

I drove home, opened the food with my wife, and we both sat there and were wondering what we were looking at.

The egg roll felt like rubber and was very skimpy. It also had an awkward taste to it. Biting into it was the worst - imagine trying to pull rubber from rubber.

Then onto the chicken, we paid extra for white meat only. What we received was mostly little pieces of chicken smaller than a quarter, with maybe one or two medium sized pieces. The smaller pieces were just all crunch and you could taste the burned oil with every bite.

The larger pieces were very thin and stale. When tearing it open to look at our white meat, all we were able to see was the other side of the fried batter. There was legitimately barely any chicken in our dish.

We called to talk to the manager, who conveniently wasn't there. But the the worker on the phone passed the phone to a lady who said she was the owner. She said to bring the food back and we can get a refund - the problem is that I live 30 minutes away and was not going to make a trip back for a measly $10. I offered to bring it back the next day on my way to work. She became very rude and insisted that I was her only customer that ever complained about her cooking. This is highly questionable. I should have listened to the other 1 star reviews.

I know what to expect when ordering General Tsos chicken. Usually they are big enough so I can actually see the chicken in the middle. But this place made it so you couldn't even taste the chicken at all - mostly just the fried batter.

Tried to order food and got told that they don't deliver here, I'm not to far away from where they are located if I drove it wouldn't be a problem however I don't and I would love to know why that is... It is technically a gated community but they do not enforce the gated part meaning you don't have to talk with anyone to get in and there are no codes to put in so I would like to know why they don't deliver here if I'm within the zone of ordering food. There was another time I got food here and I asked the nice woman who was taking my order a question before she could get any words out some guy jumped in front of her and started to answer my question and I didn't like that! Talk about rude, I saw that lady leaving for the night, walking up to her I said this is for you and that guy was rude. It wasn't much but I gave her a 10 dollar bill that she didn't have to share...

Consistent quality food moves fast. Very organized to get you in and out. I’ve never had an order that was incorrect out of 20 or more trips there.

There’s no dish I would steer you away from. Best thing there is shrimp with eggplant. Pay the extra Buck to get the brown rice - outstanding texture.

They lose a star because they won’t carry the real Chinese hot mustard as a condiment option.

It’s a very spicy almost horseradish like mustard that many restaurants around here carry but even when I asked, they said they don’t want that there. I think that’s a shame most places get $.75 for a small condiment take out tab they can make a fortune. Their loss.
