Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Toms River

I usually don't write fast food reviews but this warrants one hoping this prevents other poor souls from having to endure spending over 8 hours running to the bathroom all night long with FOOD POISONING.

I got the below items last night at 6:40pm. I should have taken it as a warning that the guy up front was pulling out the chicken nugget tray and picking and eating from it in plain view not even trying to hide it.

There wasn't a single other person in the place for the 10 minutes I was there waiting for my pickup order. Everyone was next door at B*25 which I was going to get but didn't want to wait 35 minutes for wings and fries. Lesson learned....I should have and will go there next time.

Got home and ate at 7:20pm. Everything tasted fine and all was well in the world until 10:30pm when I made the first trip to the bathroom. I was like ok, maybe the sauce didn't agree with me completely. That was until less than 30 minutes later and for the next 7 hours it was non stop running to the bathroom all night long.

It was a horrifically long night of trips to the bathroom with things flying out of both ends at speeds I didn't know was possible.

I don't ever want to relive another night of pure liquid speeding out of both ends at the same time ever again.

I can finally rest a bit knowing I'm finally getting over a night of food poisoning.

I may go leave a great review for my poor toilet which handled about 25 flushes overnight like a champ.

Needless to say I will never, EVER eat Popeyes again.

God bless any other poor soul who got wings from here last night and had the all night experience I did. I feel your pain and know the hell you went through.

October 4, 2019 -- I'll admit, I'm a Popeye's fan. a few years ago when I worked in the Neptune area, I frequented the Popeye's on 35, but it's a bit of a drive from where I live and work now. I was pleased to hear when this location was first announced, a 5 minute ride from my current job. but less than stellar reviews and rumors of mismanagement and disgruntled employees that have surfaced since then gave me pause. this week I decided I had to see for myself. and so, today was the day.

I only used the drive-thru so I can't speak as to the condition of the interior of the restaurant. but I am happy to report that my experience was 100% positive. the outside of the restaurant was clean and attractive. the attendant at the drive-thru answered my one question about the three-piece combo confidently and took my order exactly as I had ordered it. (and I made sure to get her name so I could give proper credit, so, thanks Val!) my order was filled in less than 90 seconds, and was exactly as I had ordered, a three-piece combo (breast/thigh/wing, all mild) with red beans & rice and a Dr. Pepper. the food was hot and fresh; the chicken was cooked perfectly. it was my first time having Popeye's in a while and I enjoyed the living hell out of it.

full disclosure, the restaurant parking lot was decidedly empty for a Friday lunch hour, and I saw no other drive-thru customers while I was there, so they weren't busy. I debated even posting a review, selfishly wanting to keep this place my own little "secret", but they could probably use the business, so here I am.

I'm not going to tell you that negative reviews here are falsely representing this restaurant, as this is only my first time here. but you should know that they can and do get it right, as they did today.

Tanisha was very very rude. This is my first time going to Popeyes and will definitely be my last. I ordered a combo meal at the drive through and I thought it would come with a biscuit which is what I wanted. I was unaware the large meals did not come with that. So I go back in to ask if I can get it changed. She grabbed my bag out of my hands very rude and started taking things out and put in biscuits. She had an attitude and when I said I’m so sorry for being a bother she just rolled her eyes and ignored me. I asked if I can get a Refund and just give back the food but she just gave me 2 biscuit's and smaller sides which is fine but for $28 I just wanted a refund. Also the large combo was probably more expensive and I ended up getting the small. She openly said that the sandwich combo doesn’t come with a biscuit because it’s a sandwich and not tenders. But I’m not sure if that’s true. I think she just charged us for two sandwiches, two sides, and two drinks. But I didn’t ask for a receipt so that’s my fault. It wouldn’t have been bad if we could’ve had a civil conversation with her instead of her getting upset with me. She didn’t smile once or apologize which is fine I don’t expect them to apologize but when I did, she rolled her eyes. Also work customer service so I was very respectful and just trying to come up with solutions to the issue. Although it was my fault, way she reacted made me feel uncomfortable and bad for just...
