After ice fishing my son and I along with my buddy and his son decided we would have dinner at La Fountain. Mind you we have eaten here several times and always had great service during lunch hours. My buddy called his wife and she met us there so we had a table of five. We then ordered and after waiting some time for our food order our chips and salsa were empty and so were our drinks while our waitress was over sitting down wrapping silverware not following up with us as customers. I had to get up as the customer in a restaurant for chips salsa, drink refills, AND and meal requests. While eating dinner my oldest daughter called me and stated they were returning from dinner in SLC and I advised them we were at La Fountain for dinner. They decided to stop in and sat with us making our table seven even though she only ordered a soda and her boyfriend had water. When we finished we asked the waitress to split the check where we saw she charged the table an automatic 18% tip because the table was 6 or more . Mind you I’m the guy that understands this is how a waitress makes money and never tips less then 20% but the fact that we had to ask for everything and actually had to get up and ask her to refresh stuff vs wrapping silverware kinda chapped me...not to mention she not once followed up with our table without us flagging her down. I would have gladly paid the 20% however because it was “automatic” really chapped me and when I asked about it she rudely flipped the menu over and said “it says it right here!!!!!” Now my bill was 33.00 and my buddies was 43 WITH THE 18% ADDED Making it about 17.00 in tips. After some arguments at the register I tipped her another 17.00 (32.00 total). obviously this experience was all about HER TIP NOT THE SERVICE . So Mr/Mrs owner I hope that HER 50% tip keeps your doors open because not I nor any members of my family will ever step foot in your restaurant again, nor will there ever be a good recommendation to eat here. That 3.00 courtesy drink and 50% tip is the last of my business you...
Read moreMy wife and I used to frequent this establishment regularly in Salt Lake City. So when we moved to Tooele and seen they had one out here we were excited. Well what a disappointment, we finally decided to go and enjoy some good Mexican food. Well we were quickly disappointed. My wife ordered beef enchiladas, it was literally just ground beef, no flavoring nothing. I had a large combination plate with a side taco and extra tortillas. My taco was literally ground beef with a bunch of cheese, no flavoring nothing, my player was extremely hot to touch but oddly enough my food was cold and my extra tortillas were not even homemade, they were obviously store bought. My daughter ordered chicken enchiladas and surprise surprise it was the same as the rest hot plate and cold food, no flavoring nothing at all and store bought tortillas. My grandson ordered a cheeseburger like a typical kid and once again cold, no flavor absolutely disgusting. My grandson wandered dessert do he ordered the churros, they were so hard you couldn’t even put a fork in them. My daughter ordered the flan for dessert and she said it was pretty good. The service was absolute crap, our drinks were empty after the first round for the remainder of of our dining experience. What a complete disappointment. I guess on the upside it was the most expensive piece of flan I have ever paid for a $112.00 piece of flan. We’ll never dine here again. Honestly Taco Bell is way better then this place. Don’t waste you time...
Read moreThe service is amazing and the food…omg! Delicious!! I get a cheese enchilada and a tamale (corn tortilla) every time. Their tamales are the best I’ve had. The masa is moist and doesn’t fall apart with every bite, there is plenty (PLENTY!!!) of meat! Often when I get Mexican food (always a tamale, they are my most favorite, I desperately need someone to teach me how to make them) there is just a small amount of meat and a LOT of masa, and that crumbles apart. These guys get it right every time. Stuffed full, lots of flavor, just perfect. Hubby usually get a smothered chimichanga when we get Mexican (what can I say, we like what we like, lol) and craves them from this La Fountain. We brought our kids this time and they fit quesadillas. They were seriously 2-3” thick. No exaggeration! They were loaded! Taking the 4 of us did cost $70 which was a “gasp” moment for me (let’s face it, a tamale and an enchilada shouldn’t cost $12 and to add mole to the tamale was another $3. So that hurt my wallet - wasn’t expecting that big of bull, lol we won’t take the kids (they are adults with adult sized meals) again, lol. Not a deal breaker, though. Just a hit to the wallet. There are not very many good places to eat in Tooele County, since we’ve moved here I’ve been so disappointed and usually have to drive to SLC to eat. La Fuente (this one, not the chain in general) is the bright spot for us. I absolutely 100%...
