Italian roast beef had lots of meat, however very little cheese that of which the flavor was drowned out by the meat, also fairly small for the price, not even mentioning the fact sides are not included in that cost (an extra approximate 5+ for an order of fries which for the size seems a bit much). Philly cheesesteak was average at best, but smaller than compared to other restaurants that price similarly, it’s a case of paying more for less, and the continued problem of no sides included. Now onto the biggest problem area, the brisket platter, it did come with sides, however you only get 4 1/2~ pieces of brisket, and the only positive was that it was tender, when I tasted the brisket, it had an overwhelming distinct smoky flavor, however it was a chemical type of smoky flavor, not wood, think of the way lighter fluid smells, and it was essentially the only thing you could taste.
And they were also out of several advertised items such as burger patties, chicken, along with mac and cheese, and while that may not be an issue, it was not mentioned at all until we went to order, and placed and order, which chicken had been ordered only for our waitress to come back and say they had none. Continuing, expect an open bar in the restaurant which does and did make it hard to have a normal volume conversation at a table right beside the bar. Overall, I would have a incredibly hard time ever wanting to recommend this place, or return to it because of these various...
Read moreWe were really excited as locals to be trying the food here however after arriving when we asked for a table for 2 . The hostess says" hang on let me see if our waitress wants to wait on you" she then comes back and says it would be a 25 to 30 min wait just to sit at a table !!! Mind you the place was half empty. Middle of the day on a Saturday. So because we had left our things at the beach to go grab some food we asked if we could just do a quick carry out order instead. Again she says let me go ask comes back and says no they said it would be at least an hour to even get the food. At that point we decided Larry's deli que was not for us. I can't really leave a review about the food as we didn't get anything from them. Would not have minded waiting for a table either except she already had told us the waitress didn't want to wait on us. That kinda leaves a sour taste in your mouth concerning what type of service we would be getting if we stayed. Needless to say like other locals we wanted to love this place however I can't spend my hard earned money on a place that has to ask if their waitress wants to wait on them. I honestly have been a bartender and server in the past for many years and have never heard of such a thing. I MEAN HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ASK WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ORDER AND THEN MAKE A...
Read moreWe’ve come here several times since its opening and keep returning because it’s one of the only places on the island that doesn’t center its menu around seafood. With a severe seafood allergy in the family, it can be so difficult to eat on the island, but Larry’s had solved that problem for us. We ordered pizza this time and the pizza was a fair price and honestly, delicious.
But then I ordered a slice of carrot cake to go. I didn’t think to ask about the price of desserts, which aren’t listed on the menu or the case, thinking they would be average. On the walk home, I looked at my receipt, which was ten dollars more than expected. Turns out I was CHARGED $12 for the slice of cake!! We went back and asked the waiter if this was a mistake and he rolled his eyes and said no… that’s how much the owners charge for cake.
We’re talking a standard slice of refrigerated, wrapped in plastic cake here. Not a generous slice of gorgeous wedding cake—which at the best of bakery’s only costs $4!!!
The cake was also cold and tasted like fridge.
I wrote the owners on their FB page asking for help and they saw my message but didn’t respond.
Recommend for dinner but skip dessert!! Ask for prices and check your receipt...
