My 86 year-old mother and I arrived at 2:16 p.m. and after I seated my mom I went to the counter to order our food. The gal there stood at the register -- no greeting, no "what can I get you" or anything.... I asked if I could order 2 Panini's -- one meatball and one vegetarian. Without looking up at me (she was fiddling with the cash drawer) she cuts me off and says, "Sorry the Kitchen is closed." I was about to say it's not 3pm yet, but she cut me off again with "Kitchen is closed we ran out of food." I got the message. She didn't want to serve us. The place was half full with customers still. I turned around and a woman behind us says to me, "That was rude. That would never happen in Italy." Mom and I just smiled, shrugged our shoulders and left at 2:28 p.m. I won't be going back. I've told my very extensive South Bay family and friends about our poor experience here, as well. I gave it 2 stars for ease of parking and ambiance because the cafe itself is cute. But in today's dining out experience QUALITY SERVICE is important,...
Read moreWow! I can't tell you how much we enjoyed this gem of a coffee cafe! I loved in Italy for two years back in the 80's and still remember how awesome the espresso and Panini's were. I had a plain latte and a double espresso and both were outstanding. The espresso shot was smooth and flavorful, not acidic at all.
My wife had a Carmel latte and we also split a breakfast sandwich. The eggs were fluffy and the bread was sooooo good! Trust me, go here, you won't regret it. It seems everyone there was Italian and the owner moved here from Italy... Thank you for that! We were here on vacation and very glad that we found this place, even for a day.!!
I had to pay another review since we came back before leaving the area. We split the breakfast sandwich and aRustico sandwich that has prosciutto Di Parma arugula and white truffle extra virgin oil! It was fabulous! The bread is...
Read moreThis place is AMAZING!!!!! My fiance and I had a wonderful time in Italy last year, and have always been very picky about our food. The food and coffee here is absolutely authentic and flavorful, just like what we had in Italy. We absolutely love the Rustico Panini -- it's our favorite. The Gelato is as good as the ones you get in Rome, Florence/Tuscany, and Venice (and believe us, we tried at least 17 places while in Italy!!!) - our favorites here were the Pistachio and Vanilla bean. This is the place to get Gelato at in Los Angeles and we will not be going anywhere else!! The torta della nonna is also fabulous. The owner is such a nice and attentive person. Looking forward to trying more things from their menu. We are so excited that they are still open during Covid19 times, and look forward to continue supporting them during these tough times for all...
