Clevelands County Store of Torrington — Restaurant in Torrington

Not too happy with this place recently. Placed an order on Saturday at around 8. Started off my order by asking if I could have the smash burger that was on special..instead of simply just saying sorry we are all sold out I was met with “no you can’t because we are all out”…I find it very hard to believe a place that openly advertises various menu items that consist of ground beef to be without any. I opted for the Italian combo light mayo, very clearly specified and emphasized on the light aspect…got home to it layered on both sides of bread seeping off the bread. The lady at the counter…very unpleasant. No smile, no true interaction…very stale and not welcoming at all. I’ve worked and been a manager in food service before..the “sold out” excuse an hour before close is because they wanna leave right at 9. They already cleaned the grill and didn’t want to accommodate. Ice cream was already put away etc. so if I want a milk shake am I gonna be told the machine is broken like I’m at McDonald’s? Might be time for new management to fix some of...

Edit. I put this review up 10 minutes ago and the owner of Clevelands already called me to make this right. Now thats customer service!! He offered to remake our order or leave a gift certificate (equal to my purchase) at the register for me for my next visit. We chose the gift certificate. We'll be back this weekend. I just ordered 4 paninis from here. I've eaten at the Plymouth location and enjoy it very much. My first time ordering from the Torrington location. I got the Hot Italian. It's good but the oil on the sandwich made the bottom bread sooooo soggy that I can't even eat that piece of bread. I walked to this store from the train stop that the Naugatuck Railroad Company stopped at in torrington. I did not try the actual food they prepare, but they have a lot of cute little food items that you can buy. They sold a lot of interesting candy, and nostalgic candy boxes. They have sandwiches and wraps to buy and eat there as well as ice cream. You could also buy chocolates from behind the counter. You can also get prepared meals in their refrigerator. I got some gourmet dog treats for my dog, and a little maple syrup lollipop. There is not a lot of seating, but I did not dine in so that was not a problem. It's definitely an adorable little store and deli that if you have the time to stop...
